Pando Forum • View topic - Is Pando tracking my internet browsing?
Using (just started ) Vista.
It seems that everytime I go to open a web page, my securtiy software tells me that Pando is attempting to access the internet and I have to either allow or block it.
Is Pando (Free) logging my browsing?
I never saw this on my xp computers.
Still using some xp computers and the same security software on both xp and vista machines but I only get this warning on the vista computer.

Hello,
Which version of Internet Explorer do you use?
Do you have the latest windows updates?
If you run the installer again, select repair and uninstall all the webmail plugins, does the problem persist?
If you have these plugins installed, a small pando process need to run when Internet Explorer runs, so it can be ready to be used when needed in your various webmail programs.

I am running windows vista home premium and msie 7.0.60016575.
I keep my system updated with auto downloads and install them manually so as not to interfer with normal processing.
I will run the installer again and look for repair.
I dont beleive I ever selected any webmail plugins.
I will let you know what I find.

Ok, I had to remove pando completly using the pando uninstall program.
I then downloaded the install from your website and ran the install.
During the install, I was sure to uncheck all the options and plugins etc.
No I go back to an email containing a pando package and attempt to open it.
Nothing happens.
The pando file is not in my pando packages folder.
Nothing happens when I open the file from the email other than I get a popup to either open or cancel.
Of course I select open.
I run pando and select received and there is nothing there either.
What's next?

Did you block Pando during the events from your initial post?
You will want to create a new profile to allow Pando access in Windows Firewall.
You can photos of the following steps here:
http://articles.techrepublic.com.com/51 ...
592-2.html
1. Click Start | Programs | Accessories and select Run.
2.
Type mmc.exe in the Run box.
You may be required to enter administrative credentials or click to authorize running the program.
3.
In the blank MMC, click File | Add/Remove Snap-in.
4.
In the Available Snap-ins list, scroll down and select Windows Firewall With Advanced Security.
Double-click on it or highlight it and click the Add button.
5.
In the Select Computer dialog box, accept the default (Local Computer) and click Finish.
6.
Click OK in the Add/Remove Snap-ins Box.
Now you should have advanced firewall in the console tree view.
Double click on "Windows Firewall with.." to expand the view.
Now right-click on "Inbound Rules", and select "New Rule".
A.
For Rule Type, select "Program", Then "Next".
B.
For Program, select "This Program Path", then browse to your Pando directory and select Pando.exe, hit "Ok", then click "Next".
C.
Select "Allow The Connection" and click next.
D.
When asked "When Does this rule Apply?" check all if unsure and click next.
E.
For name, you can type "Pando Inbound" and description is optional.
Click Finish.
Now go back to the list, and repeats steps A-E for "Outbound Rules".
At Step E, name it something like "Pando Outbound" and reset your firewall.
Now reboot your computer, and try to run Pando.
If this does not help, please let me know.

I am using Vista.
While the op sys works a lilttle bit differently from how you described it, I followed the instructions.
I wasn't using windows firewall but I did all the windows firewall stuff you listed.
It now appears that all is working well and no attempt for Pando to access the internet each time I open MSIE.
Not a big user of Pando but yes, it does come in very handy when needed.
I forget the process.
I received an email with a pando attachment, dated 2/7.
It is now only 2/12.
This is the one I was no longer able to access until we just fixed this problem.
At first pando tells me it is unavailable, later it begins the download, at about 96% the download stops and pando tells me "waiting for sender".
I thought I could download directly from pando servers if the user was not on line and from both if the user was on line.
What am I misunderstanding here?
But....
Thanks for the quick and very helpful support.

Waiting for sender usually indicates the sender has gone offline before completing the upload to our servers.
If you forward me a copy of the .pando file, I can verify this for you.

I sent a file via pando to myself at an alternate email address and then downloaded it when I got the notification.
All went well.
I am really not concerned about older files as I have already downloaded them successfully before the initial problem began.
After rebooting my computer, and Pando attempted to load, I got a Pando message "unable to load pando" might be a firewall issue.
I did all those firewall things (still not using windows firewall) and still pando would not load.
Turned off my other firewall and attempted to load Pando and got the same error message.
Any more suggestions?
I have no problem with deleting and reinstalling Pando but would like to know if there is anything special I need to do to totally delete pando prior to the reinstall.
Thanks again for all your prompt responses.

Are you sending the file to yourself on the same computer?
If so, Pando will not work how you might think.
If Pando detects the the file to download already exists on the system, it will not initialize, assuming that it complete.
A better test would be to send the package from a different computer, or to download the one of the Welcome videos via our website, or something from the channels.
If you would like to send something to support at pando as a test, just reference this thread in the forum and I will verify it works from my end.

I guess you are missing the issue.
The test send and receive went just fine.
Then after a reboot pando would not start up.
I have since run the uninstall and reinstalled but I keep getting the error message.
I cannot run pando at all.

And what is your "other firewall"?

Verizon fios security package

After my last reply, I turned of the verizon security package totally.
Tried to run pando and came up with the same message.
Investigated further and found that the Windows Firewall was still active.
Even though I went through the firewall steps you had indicated in an earlier post, the Windows Firewall was preventing Pando from operating.
I killed the Windows Firewall, re started the verizon package (pando was previously allowed to pass through that firewall) and Voila, all is good again.
One more thing now.
Pamdimonium Minute downloaded.
I had selected to not have any of the plugins installed.
Will I keep getting such files downloading?
