ImHooked.com Fishing Forums - CBS channel 13 bought my photos..
I was the first on scene today when a CHP was chaseing a motorcycle down Foresthill Rd when the motorcycle crashed and the CHP cruiser went up in flames in the dry grass.
To my surprise CBS bought two of my pictures.
I'll post some more up later.
That was a wild scene!!

Way to go FFG. You are now a pro.
The bad news is that you will have to pay taxes on the money you received from those pictures.
The good news is that you can deduct the cost of photo equipment and travel expenses as you ply the highways and byways and Sierra back country in pursuit of more salable pictures.
It may take you years to get a positive cash flow.

Thanks. I got a call today from the chief editor for CBS Sacramento.
He needs someone for live coverage of events that take place in the Foresthill area.
Video coverage not necessarily photography.
He wants me to do it.
Kinda funny actually..whens the last time you saw something in the news with "Foresthill" in it.
Jumpers off Foresthill bridge is about it and that's even rarely covered on the news now because it is happening so frequently with the bad economy.
We just had another one Sat night.
I heard it on the scanner at about midnight.
Someone called 911 saying there was a car parked in the middle of the bridge, running with the lights on and nobody around.
As soon as I heard that I knew someone jumped.
When they ran the plates the reg owner was recently divorced and had a 18 yr old son 5150.
Poor guy, how could it get that bad?
I hope I will never be in those shoes to find out.
But that's a different topic and one I know I don't want to cover, but the conversation did come up.
I guess all in all its a good connection anyway Who knows..only time will tell.

Well it's nice to know that the next time I raise Hell in Foresthill you'll be listening oh, that's right, I don't do that anymore.
We used to 'play' on the under structure after the bridge was first built.
There were also a lot of jumpers at first then it calmed down for a while.
I've always wondered, when you have 700' to fall, if one has second thoughts about what they just did.
Base jumpers (with parachutes) took over for a bit, I even helped a few of those guys, that was pretty cool to watch.
If CBS gives you the equipment, that might be worth working with and see what happens.
You're probably right though, driving down to the bridge in the middle of the night to take a film of nothing would get old in a hurry.

Every time I hear that call that's what I'm thinking.
And every time I hear someone jumps it bums me out.
Makes me wish I was behind him when his car stopped on the bridge.
I know I would have known what was to come next and just maybe I could have talked some sense into him before he took his leap to death.
Then again if I would have seen him jump with my own two eyes I wouldn't sleep very good at night for a while after that.
Its just a bummer some have to sir-come to that.
It doesn't affect the one that jumps, but will change the life's of everyone around that knew and loved him.
Unfortunately I can speak from experience here.
It's an easy way out..and life aint easy as we all know.

You do good work FFG.
I thought I saw one of your photos from the 49 Fire in one of the local newspapers.
I think it was the one with the helicopter dipping out of the lake or pond, whatever it was.
