LASIK eye surgery - eXBii

Hi, My vision suffers from myopia (-3.5).

I was planning for a LASIK surgery(which one of my relative got done successfully few months back.) However i am scared after seeing many sites warning about it(post complications, complete blindness) .

Should I go for it??

That too I am not sure about the procedure and technology used by Indian doctors.

What's your opinion.

Go for it...it will not cost you more than 20k. My friend has completed it a year ago...he took only a day rest and he is looking good without his glasses .... Just they wil burn out the pupil outer thing ...nothing to get afraid off... All the best...take care

Every surgical procedure has an associated risk..LASIK is no exception. LASIK is a good option for -3.5 myopia. First find a good center and and a good eye surgeon. If u are wearing contact lenses right now, stop using it for at least 2-3 weeks prior to surgery.

Pupil is the darkest center part of the eye.

The procedure is only done on the part of the eye adjacent to the pupil (the remaining black).

Hai i have did it man (EPI-LASIK)...

On jan 21st, now my eyes are sharper than a normal people eye that is my vision is ABOVE NORMAL , at back i had -6 and -5, now i m normal no problems i haope tis should continu till i die .. I advise you to take EPI-LASIK, bcoz no cut,no flap its safe..

After me next one of my friend did LASIK its cutting the flap, now his Right eyes are normal, but left eyes has cylindrical something, doctor said him to remove the flap and iron it.

He just ran away by saying this is enough..

I say (no pain no gain) there will be pain in epi but best.. Diff between LASIK and EPI-LASIK, Lasik has no pain,it takes only 10 seconds per eye, but cutting the cornia flap and fix it, they say it will hell again but real truth is it will not heal at all, in future if you rubb if flap moves then cause any vision prob and may leave to blind also...

... Epi- lasik has pain for minimum 2 days, it takes 15 mins per eye, but no cutting on cornia, they cut epithelium,a thin outer portion of cornia its like skin it will grow in 3 to 5 days its depend on your body, stamina or health ok.

This is the safe i feel and i knw..

There is no vision prob in epi.. but one thing i need to dont do anymore research on lasik..

If you about that you cant under go surgery, especially dont see LASIK in youtube..

You never go to operations.. best place in chennai is SANKARA NETHRALAYA,nungabakkam, i prefer you to go to this doctor well experienced doc(PREMA PADMANATHAN).

All the best take your own decision...

Bye

Yes, given the associated risks, its purely your own decision to go for it.

I had to convince my mom a lot to allow me to get it done.

She was scared "what if something happens?" "I am alright seeing you with those thick glasses, but not without eyes" etc One good thing is they don't do it to anyone and everyone who want to go for it.

They'd first do all sort of tests to assess and make sure the inside of your eyes is strong enough to withstand the laser.

If they feel otherwise, they'd simply refuse to do it. I got it done more than 2 yrs ago.

My power was -8 (Right) and -7 (Left).

For power this high, there is another advanced method than Lasik, which they call Zyoptix. Completely painless procedure, took less than 5 min for each eye, and I started seeing perfectly clearly with the first eye after it was done, even while the second one was being done.

However you should take very good care after that, and especially for next 2 weeks at least, dont go out in the sun, dont watch TV, cinema, dont read paper, be extremely careful while bathing, dont EVER rub your eyes, etc, basically anything that could harm the eyes. There was some dryness / burning sensation for the one day that I got it done, like it feels when you haven't slept for 2 days.

You need to keep putting the eye drops continuously for that day, and then from next day you have to use them as directed for abt 3-6 months and thats it.

Plus a regular checkup every 6 months is recommended. I resumed my work after 10 days complete rest.

I did have to travel a bit so I used goggles that cover the eyes completely from end to end. I got it done by Dr Rohit Shetty at Narayana Nethralaya, Bangalore. All the best Regards, Uday

Bala & uday can you guys pls tell about the total fees u paid for the full process?

Uday, tell us more about Zyoptix

Hi frd, i paid around 33000, including medical drops, dummy lenses and such things..
