Mothers Day gift for your wife... - Coreplanets: Missouri and Kansas Star Wars Fan Site

Does anyone else have a wife who expects a mothers day gift from their kids, but really it is you, the dad/husband, who is expected to get the gift that is actually from the kids???? My wife sends my mom a card with a picture in it every year.

Great. Thats all taken care of. But i end up in the doghouse every year because "the kids didnt get me anything for mothers day".

Meaning, i didnt buy something so they could give it to her.

Agh... So, here i am half a week from the doghouse with nothing.

I love procastinating.

I have NO IDEA what to get.

There are very few stores here, and I have no money really.

So, we're talking probably under 20 bucks.

She doesnt care about flowers or chocolates.

I can't stand holidays! What are you getting YOUR mother, or your "mother" this year (so i can have an idea).

I'm giving her the oppertunity to keep on living with me.

Otherwise, she is more the welcome to find someplace else to live.

And if i tell her that, i'm sure i'll receive 6-8 stitches on my head as well...

You're my new hero man!!! (Of course, if I said something like that to my wife she'd probably hit me in the head with a two by four and cut off my nuts with a pair of pruning shears.)

Are there any good restaurants in the area?

A gift certificate for a night out is always appreciated.

Yeah, Rolla...ya gotta buy stuff from the kids for the wife as their mother.

It sucks, but I get that same crap every year.

When Father's Day rolls around, she has the kids do the same for me.

I don't think much of it, but she does. We've kind of had a tradition to go to Cinzettis for Father's Day every year, but a trip for Mom to a restaraunt from the kids would not fly with my wife, I don't think.

It has to be a gift to unwrap.

Yep, same here. Going out to eat with the kids is more of a headache to her than anything.

She is a hard person to buy for as well. I love gift certificates, but she thinks they are so 'unpersonal'.

Ugh...women

Fortunately my wife is also a collector of two or three lines of things.

That makes it a lot easier.

I remember when our kids were little she liked SW figures, so guess what she got every Mother's Day.

Here's what you do...go to a costume shop and get a Tron suit... (a gift she'll never forget.)

Go to QT and get those $1.99 roses, one from each kid.

Then grab the bouquet thats 4.99(I think) and your done, all you need is Quick Trip.

If you show up in a tron suit you'll have a lot to explain, as per QT roses not a bad idea, but it never works as well as you think it will.

Internet, man. You're already ahead of the game by admitting your procrastination fault (one of many I'm sure).

I'm in your same store situation.

Find something online and send it to work so she don't know.

My wife already found a Vera Bradley purse she wants...so she'll just get it and call it her Mother's day gift..

THATS what i love actually is when she finds something and i can just say 'there ya go.

Happy mom day!' she actually did this last night so i'm safe (this year)

For my girlfriend's last Birthday I made her a collage of Pictures of "Famous Duos" like Han & Chewie, Ben & Jerry, Molder & Scully, The Blues Brothers and so on.

Then I put a large photo of her and I in the center.

It was very different and Off-the-Wall, but she loved it.

I bought and inexpenxive poster frame and printed most of the pictures at home, but it took a long time to put it together.

Just be creative.

Chicks like that kind of shit.

Do you mean be creative with all kinds of shit literally?

THAT, I could doo, I mean, do.

Rolla came to the wrong place for advice.

The day before you should be able to find good deals on flowers on nearly any street corner.

The poorer the neighborhood, the better deal you'll find.

Before Mother's Day I have to worry about our wedding anniversary.

This Friday will be our 44th, and you don't forget that if you want to live.

It's time for a present, a card, and dinner out.

Then shortly after that we do it all again for Mother's Day.

What were you thinking getting married that close to mothers day?

You were just asking for trouble.

Happy Mother's (Mother eff'ers) Day to all of you bastards!

Yeah, my wife expects a gift from our son.

As she should. But she also expects a gift from me.

My Cousin and I have this argument every Year.

He says "NO, She isn't my Mother!!" And ends up pissing his wife off and in the dog house for about a month.

Part of the problem with him is his Mother passed away from a Brain tumor around mothers day 2 years ago. I choose to keep the peace and get her something from me.

My way of saying Thank You for being an Excellent Mother to our son. She gets me something for Fathers Day. 2 years ago it was an All Stainless Steel Professional series Gas Grille. Last year it was the Yoda FX Light Saber. She always gets me something nicer than I got her. This year I got her a Coach purse she wanted.

I think they are Ugly myself and WAY OVER PRICED!

But Hey... She got the purse she wanted and I got a "gift" also. Worked out for Both of us.

Glad i don't have a wife which means no mother in law or baby's mother to worry about!

My wife sends presents to our daughter.

I ask her way she is doing that and she says "Well she's a mother too".

The truth is, she just likes buying and giving presents.

I gave her a couple of Cherished Teddies figures that she collects, and our dog "gave" her a book she has been wanting.

We went out to a very nice (and expensive) brunch.

We really don't need to eat anything more today, so I think it's soup and a sandwich tonight. She gets presents from our kids (roses and a picture of our youngest grandson), plus phone calls.

She has a great day.
