Re: Automotive/General Engineering applicants...
Theres a University motorclub.
- We have around 40 members and a small lockup garage, a 40ft storage container, and a fenced off patch of land with about 4 bays where cars can be left while being worked on.
- The is a garage meet every Wednesday afternoon, and quite a few Fridays and Weekends.
Social meet in the pub every Monday, and most Thursdays for spoons curryclub.
- We have a forum/website at www.lsumc.org.uk which is used to talk about cars like stuffs, and to see whos doing what down the garage when.
- We also attend a number of Trackdays around the country thoughout the year, and typicaly have an annuall (unofficial) road trip to the Nurbergring.
Equipment in the garage includes:
-Bench grinder
-Hydralic press
-Small piller drill
-Air compressor
-Engine hoist/crane
-High lift and low entry trolley jacks and stands
-The ususall socket sets, breaker bars, etc
-A selection of airtools(?) and big hammers
-Half decent bench vice, for use inconjuction with hammer.
-Radio, odd selection of bolts/washers, eziebleed brakebleed kit
-Urrm, and then proberbly much more ive forgoten about.
And messyness.
But yeah, you will see us at the freshers fair at the start of term, member ship is about £25-30 for the year i think, which usally includes a free LSUMC tshirt on arrival.

Re: Automotive/General Engineering applicants...
Well, if you want to!
(whats the run about?)
- We also have a 150amp mig too, although thats currently being borrowed by a member for a fairly rotten BMW.
In the club currently we have.
- Two audi quattro coupes.
- A mk1 MR2 and a Supra
- Ford Courtina with a dohc
- Pug 306 Gti6, and two 1.8l's
- A very tidy Mk2 Golf indeed.
- An Evo8 from a new meber this year
- There my westfeild and Andys Locost, with another locost possably on the way.
- A hayabusa Fury or Mini would go very nicely prehaps?
There odd rengineing going, one of the 1.8 pugs have just been re-engined from a 1.6 , using Gti exhast and inlet setup and cams.
And i know the Cortina is looking for more power.
While andy has a zetec in his garage at home to swapout for the locost's cvh.
Im in the process of fitting a megajolt setup to the field as well (a 1.9l cvh on dellortos)
Its a small club, and its not all go, but a lot does get done bit my bit.
The only thing we're really really short of is a some covered bays,
but i guess thats the point at which you could point out we are still students!
