Politics 2009 - The Student Room

Politics 2009 Come on then, let's be 'avin yer. People doing Politics or any combination thereof in 2009, this is your post! I know there are at least ten of you on here!

Re: Politics 2009 *peeks in* Hai!

Am I one of those ten?

:p:

Re: Politics 2009 With all us PPE types included, there should be more than ten. And, ermm, hullo.

:D

Re: Politics 2009 Me, too.

I shall be doing politics.

The course at York looks good because it has lots of philosophical stuff about politics, which I enjoy. For politics students: Why did you decide to study politics and why did you decide to go to York?

Re: Politics 2009 Hai Guyz.

Friends for life?

Re: Politics 2009 So we can discuss how excited we are to be doing such a great subject at uni, here is my facebook :) - http://www.facebook.com/jonnypannell

Re: Politics 2009 Hey, I'm going to be studying Politics and IR.

Exciting times. Seems theres alot to get involved in and choice in modules to specialise it. Congratulations everyone! Sarah

Re: Politics 2009 Ahoy. PPE here.

Seemed to be the only degree I felt even remotely interested in doing, and York's one of the best (and only, at that) places around that runs the course.

:p: Spent some time visiting a friend there over the past year, and fell in love with the place.

October can't roll around soon enough. I love Philosophy and Political Theory/IR.

Economics has done a lot of growing on me this year, too, thankfully- it was a bit of a shot in the dark when I applied in the last cycle.

Rousseau and Machiavelli have to be my favourites, as far as reading material goes- although I can't say I've done anywhere near as much reading as I'd have liked to over my year out.

Re: Politics 2009 Has anyone noticed, by the way, that the book we had to buy was written by the head of politics at York? Crafty feckers...

Re: Politics 2009 Straight Politics for me :D ! Just wondering where you guys got the info about buying a book as I haven't received anything about it?!?!

Re: Politics 2009 Came through the post for me along with a form to fill out to decide between a "Great Political Texts" module and a workshop module.

Came a while ago, perhaps you should contact York?

Re: Politics 2009 Quote: : Yeah will do thanks....has anyone looked at the politics timetable on evision?

Currently only have 3 hours of lectures and I guess a few tutorials to add;

Looks pretty vacant...

Re: Politics 2009 Fairly long shot, but anyone else's Democratic Tradition tutorial group Group 12?

:p

Re: Politics 2009 I've got 3 hours.

Hopefully it'll be at least 6.

Re: Politics 2009 I've just applied for Politics 2010 :D What made you guys choose York over other places?

:)

Re: Politics 2009 Quote: : Me too.

Did you get the e-mail from the department?

I currently have 4 hours on the timetable including my Democratic Traditions seminar (Group 3).

Even with my Economics module (which apparently we won't be able to see until we register) it looks pretty bare.
