New here, looking for advice re endo/fertility/pregnancy etc
Hi all :-) I posted this on another forum (endoUK), and was directed here as I was told you're all very helpful :-) I don't know if this is the right place to post, so apologies if it isn't.
I'm 22, and I was diagnosed with endo 3 weeks ago, after 10 years of symptoms.
I'm getting the full results on Wed next week, but so far I know that 2 cysts were found, and my consultant's secretary also said that there was 'widespread superficial endo throughout the pelvic cavity, and deposits on both..' (at which point she stopped, so I'm thinking poss ovaries/tubes and she didn't want to scare me).
The cysts were removed and the endo lasered away.
I've been with my partner for 3 1/2 years.
We don't plan children yet, as I'll be studying until I'm about 26, but we'd like to start a family once I've got a job, saved some money, and bought a house;
Hopefully, this side of 30, as I'm worried about leaving it too late with the endo.
My plan at the moment, which I intend to run by my cons when I see him, is to stay on the Depo (which I'm on for contraception and to stop my periods and suppress the endo) for about 2 years, then have the Mirena IUS fitted for a couple of years until I want to start TTC (I want to come of the Depo in advance because of the effect it can have on fertility;
The Mirena has little to no effect).
I'm hoping this way I can suppress the endo, so buying me a window of time (hopefully) to start TTC before it starts coming back.
Has anyone tried a similar approach, or heard of anyone who's done it?
Could this work? Or am I being simplistic and optimistic?...
That's my first question.
My second is re endo and pregnancy.
I would really like a home birth, for a huge number of reasons, but I'm worried that I'll be considered high risk due to the endo, as I believe there's a greater risk of complications such as pre-eclampsia.
I know this is very premature, I guess I just like to know where I stand so I can plan and have an idea;
I don't want to get my hopes up now then have them dashed later.
My local maternity unit is not nice, and the thought of giving birth there actually frightens me in all honesty :-( So I've always hoped for a home birth.
So far I've been told it shouldn't make me high-risk, just wanted some more opinions, and would love to hear from anyone with endo who's had either a home birth or water birth.
Thanks for listening and sorry this has been so long!

Hi barbie
Sorry you have had this dx.
However, you seem quite clued up on it and know what you want to do and it is always good to be positive.
I cant really answer your questions as I went down a different path and found I had endo when TTC.
I have not heard of being high risk due to end when giving birth and a higher risk of pre-eclampsia.
Where did you hear that from?
I am intrigued now.
Good luck with your studies and everything you choose to do.
I am sure someone will be along soon who can answer your questions.
You may also like to post on the introductions page and some of the mods can point you in the right dorection to other discussion boards.
Have blown you some lucky bubbles xx

Hi
Welcome to Fertility Friends
I just wanted to add to what shrimper has already said
its good to read that your clued up about your treatment, sometimes this is half the battle so i hope that the treatment plan is successful for you, not all treatments work for everyone as we are all different.
Regarding pregnancy,
there isnt any reason i wouldnt think why you couldnt have a home birth due to endo, i suggested this to my DH he was horrified altho he has OCD
I had gestational diabetes so i couldnt have had one anyway but this was nothing to do with the endo a completely seperate issue, also i havent heard about the higher risk of pre-eclampsia than any other pregnant lady, i didnt have high bp except on one occasion during my whole pregnancy
I hadnt heard good reviews of my local hospital so i went to a hospital just outside of my area, this is an option for you also
best wishes
Em
