Mother's Day Gifts? - DFW Area Moms

I am trying to wrack my brain for some creative ideas for Mother's Day gifts.

If DH has a job by then, I am going to go to LUSH or Bath Junkie for my mom and MIL.

However, I am trying to come up wth plan B just in case he doesn't have a job or at least his first paycheck by then. I need something REALLY inexpensive, and my creative brain has been overtaken by pregnancy brain so HELP!!! We have done photos and fingerpainting in the past.

I am open to that, but I need something a little more creative other than a simple photo and/or fingerpainting/handprints. TIA for any ideas!

I'm in the same boat!

If I think of something I'll let you know.

I'm doing Avon stuff for Mother's Day for my MIL.

They have a special where if you buy 10 bucks worth of beauty stuff you get this beauty bag that has tons of stuff in it for 10 bucks.

So I did that and I bought her a butterfly tea light that they have on their web site.

Free shipping and the tea light was only 12.99 and it should be here b4 mother's day. For grandparents and such I just gave them some pictures that Stefani did of the boys and they were very happy!

Sounds like a great deal, Nikkilou, but if I am going to my creative Plan B, it's because I have no money!

Where are all my artsy-fartsy friends?!

Jacki? Kat? Stacie?

Oh, but I don't sew...maybe they can't help me.

ROFL

One year I made up signs out of posterboard for the kids to hold while taking their pics outside in the backyard. I made a sign that said We love you Grandma!!!

And signed all their names (they did) and took their pic holding it ,they were dressed in clean clothes w/ their hair done up.

My parents and my in laws LOVED it.

We printed them for .19 at walmart, framed them at dollar tree wooden frame.

For $1.19 each we had a great gift that they loved for ever! We did the same thing for fathers day that year.

Wanted to add some art supplies that I came across...maybe someone can help me come up with something with these... - shoe boxes - plastic wipes containers - pipe cleaners - paint, markers, crayons, paper, etc. I also have a photo printer we could do something with photos too.

Honestly, both of your moms know that you guys are having a hard time right now (financially)...I think the best present you could give them is letters from each of you expressing your love and thankfulness to them (and possibly giving examples) etc (you write one to your mom and Sean to his)...

I think that would be a wonderful treasure.

Then the kids can make a craft or whatever for them (this is one of my FAVORITE crafty blogs http://belladia.typepad.com/crafty_crow/ )

I think I'm going to have the kids make one or both of these butterfly crafts: http://just4funwithsandy.blogspot.co...tterflies.html and http://indietutes.blogspot.com/2009/...butterfly.html .

You could also make these flower pots .

Or you could do this with the shoe box.

Maybe print up thier last names in the letter photos that nicole did a year or so ago.

I don't know how much they cost, but Hobbly Lobby has kits to make stepping stones for the garden.

You can put a hand or footprint and then colorful stones that come with it.

I have to say that these make great gifts.

We did them for our dads and brother-in-laws for Christmas.

So, if anyone else is looking to do them - great idea!!! Thanks for posting all of the websites, guys.

I got some great ideas.

I am not a crafty person so I don't even know where to find crafty blogs. Oh, and the letter writing is a great idea.

We normally do something similar by each doing a card for our mom - I always write a mini book in mine.

LOL DH never has much to say in his so a full letter might be stretching him.

Ha! Maybe this year, we'll each write a note to our MIL's!

I make my mom girlie socks every year (she lives in a house full of boys and doesn't have a lot of pink around her).

I buy a pack of white socks, which is cheap.

Then use ribbon and fabric paint to decorate them.

They aren't pretty, but she seems to love them. Don't forget that the best thing about moms that they love anything you give them;

It is truly the thought that counts.

Thanks for posting this.

I'm having the same problem.

My mom loves gardening though so I think I'm going with the hand/foot print stepping stone idea for her.

My mom will probably get a gift card or taken to dinner.

She has an issue with hoarding...and my brother and I generally don't give her things that will add to the piles of stuff.

I may get her a day at the spa or something.

She needs a break from taking care of her parents. I have no idea for my MIL...

Probably will get her something for her garden. My stepmom...likewise...may take her to eat also...perhaps some pictures of Willow. I've told everyone that I want my knives sharpened.

I have a great chef's knife that's in dire need of a good sharpening.

It's the first time I've ever been adamant about what I want.

Lol
