PS3 selling more games than Xbox360! 10/26/08 - PS3 Forums - PlayStation Universe

After the November NPD was released, a lot of people here are predicting doom and gloom for Sony.

Especially after looking at the software sales, the PS3 numbers are not par to that of 360.

Some would even go as far as to predict the lost of third party support for ps3 in the future.

Actually, NPD is US only.

We wrote a story a few months ago where according to EA’s financial report the PS3 was the clear bread-winner over the Xbox 360 and the Wii.

Now it seems that Konami, Namco Bandai and Ubisoft have joined the ranks of EA where the PS3 console is bringing in more money than the Xbox 360. EA In our previous story, we talked about how the PS3 is EA’s new bread-winner in terms of bringing home the bacon.

According to EA’s previous financial statement, the PS3 accounted for about 17% of total revenue in comparison to the Xbox 360’s 10%.

That is quite significant when considering that EA is the largest third party video game publisher in the world. Namco Bandai Namco Bandai is the largest third party publisher in Japan.

According to the publisher’s recent financial statement, the PS3 currently moved approximately 57% more software than it’s direct competitor, the Xbox 360 .

Namco Bandai is sort of the EA of Japan, considering the amount of revenue it generates from software. Konami Konami is one of the top three publishers in Japan in terms of revenue.

With the recent release of Metal Gear Solid 4, it is not all that surprising that the PS3 would have a larger piece of the pie.

However, according to Konami’s recent financial statements, the PS3 accounted for a whopping 57.3% of the sales this past quarter, while the Xbox 360 accounted for only 2.6% .

This changed from last year, when the Xbox 360 brought in more sales compared to the PS3. UbiSoft UbiSoft is considered to be one of the top three publishers in all of Europe.

According to UbiSoft’s half year financial report (6 months 2008/09), the PS3 accounted for about 20% of the software sales compared to the Xbox 360’s 14% .

Considering UbiSoft’s presence in Europe, this is quite a significant turn of event. Wrap-up It’s mind blowing that not only is the PS3 competing toe-to-toe with the Xbox 360, it is out performing the later in many of the instances.

Considering that the Xbox 360 has a larger install base by 5 million, it looks like the PS3 is performing more efficiently in terms of sales for third party publishers. Since 2005, when the Xbox 360 first launched with no competition, it seems that the PS3 has been steadily climbing in terms of the software sales.

This pretty much means that the PS3 has been taking more and more potential Xbox 360 sales as time goes by.

The future for the PS3 looks bright and healthy, however if the current trend continues the Xbox 360 might find itself struggling to compete in the market.

I mean, the PS3 is lagging behind in the US and that's obvious but in Europe and Japan the PS3 is really started to get noticed.

It having a good rate of sales.

Maybe that is why Sony is a little calm about the latest NPD number, because they making up, waht would seem like losses, in the other regions. By the way, I'm seeing a load of new adverts here in the UK...could only because of the holiday season though.

. Seriously though, the PS3 is doing good..not great..yet, but good.

Sony is ok with how everythings going so they must have some type of plan.

I'm not real surprised that any of these consoles sell tons of games.

That srticle is still allitle silly, i mean the EA one can be true, but ion the first 6 months of 08 konami released MGS4 ubisoft released haze and namco bandia games only really sell in japan thats where the ps3 is doing better.

Im just putting perspective in.

I mean ask activisiion and cod sold 75 percent on 360, the gta numbers are an insane number on the 360.

All im saying is, ask the right companys and youll get the answer you want. I think the ps3 is doing really really bad.

WHat was the ps2 numbers at this time in its consoles life?

Thats a good judge if the ps3 is doing good or not

Yep it's from 10/26/08 so of course everything has changed and now games sell best on Atari I doubt that a massive change has occurd and caused a big difference here, but if it helps everyone sleep you can think it all changed if you like

These companies don't "care" about the sales in the first few months of the year they only care about each months sales by themselves. Pathetic.

You should all know by now that rikwakefield, Dasimpse and Insanehead are the BIGGEST PS3 fans in the world so if they doubt the validity of these claims then it just looks like you have mud on your face sir.

Go wash it off and come back to the forums when more presentable. PS.

Both consoles are different and have underlining circumstances that affect their market penetration.

COD did sell about to the same ratio you mentioned, but GTA4 sold about close to a 1.1 ratio, 360-PS3.

5 mil OT- I've seen Chart track etc and the PS3 currently does outperform the 360 in regards to software sold.

Like, when PES came out or when Fifa came out.

Sure , it may not be by the overwhelming numbers that 360 outperforms the PS3 by in NA, but that's all relative to install bases and the PS3 hasn't been the most affordable console to own in recent memory.

Which greatly attributes to its weak market penetration in NA.

I was unaware that Atari is still making gaming consoles as the thread is about which console is selling games, so What are "you" talking about..is the better question here.

My post was meant to be funny and more of a satire..not as if I don't know that Atari makes games(no consoles though)

Yep, it brings sadness to me that ppl are more bothered that their game console sold 400k less then another in Nov, then that fact the year is over & we've had some of, and in some cases(MGS4,LBP) tha best games released this gen, & they're exclusive And next year looks even prettier I rather be a happy gamer year after year then a happy share holder now & then

I dont care about these comparisons, we all know it will catch on, and it will not affect any of us

Thats a good judge if the ps3 is doing good or not EA one isn't true. Last 1/4 revenue mix was 25 percent 360 11percent PS3.

Cue the resident xbox guys to down play everything. Believe it or not there is a whole world outside of NA where people actually understand the PS3 being better the system. Cue flaming of me for saying the system I own is the better one.

Well thats certainly a matter of opinion and open to debate.

But being happy with your games regardless of console or what you think the best games are in your opinion is really all that matters at the end of the day.

And owning both systems gives me the best of both worlds.

So I agree about being a happy gamer.

In madden season? Yeah, EA earn more on the PS3. BS. He also manages to name Ubisoft when Haze was the only game they released, and Konami..eh what have they released for the 360? I mean, he might has well have shocked the world and said.

Sony make more money on the PS3 than they do on the Xbox360.
