Chip.in • View topic - Bsnl dataone broadband or Bsnl evdo broadband

Hi guys. Since i am planning to get a broadband connection soon so i have a query .

I have decided to go for Bsnl dataone landline or evdo broadband but couldn decide which one.

My main purpose will be downloadin.

I stay in Jamshedpur and evdo is available here.

Is evdo a good option for downloading?

Have heard the speed fluctuates.

And can i download from torrents?

What is the average speed evdo gives with torrents?

Please suggest. Thanks in advance

These services varies from place to place. it'd be better if you get feedbacks from the users from your area..

Wireless technology can be flaky - one day you get good speeds, next day horrible.

Better if you take up wired dataone broadband What is it about people demanding Mod position?

Does it make their weeny grow from 2 to 20 inches? http://sathyabh.at/ | http://sathyasays.com

As CPG has pointed out wireless internet connections (EVDO etc) fluctuate a lot. If you need mobility i.e if you travel around and would want to access internet vide your laptop, go for EVDO. If you need internet for your desktop, clear choice is a broadband wired connection (DataOne, Airtel).

I have both of them and so far i haven't seen any issues with BSNL EVDO its hooked up to my download box and unless its raining heavily, i mean MOFO heavily then speed fluctuates a bit. Like coolpcguy said the quality of service will depend on your locality, you should just talk to people residing nearby you. I prefer EVDO over dataone because its 10x fast and cheaper as compared to my 750UL plan..

I agree with xboxchick too i was using evdo for last one week there is a little fluctuation in speed but it was faster when compared to my 512kb connection i was using previously and cheap if you get good signal you can better go for evdo.

@p_dude Try the Aluminum foil Antenna Mod to boost signal..

I am observing much better signals now.

I am observing much better signals now. hey thanks i already noticed that when i keep the card near the metal pipes in my window im getting my signal boosted : P i'm getting about 60 to 100 kB during downloads and i was thinking of using some kind of antenna to boost the signal further i could sure try that out.
