Hello friends, I am making a final decision on BSNL. I am going to break my year long relation with Airtel.

I am going for BSNL 500 Plan which gives 2 Mbps with night (2-8) unlimited. Please clarify few doubts. How much (Download/upload) speed do you get in night ( 2 to 8 ) with 2 MBps connection ? How frequent are disconnection with BSNL ( Due to rain or faults ) How is the service given by BSNL overall ?

Please mention negative & positive points. How much did you pay for a new connection ?

What is the current process to apply for new connection ( Appox fees by them ) Would be glad if someone ( Bangalore USERS Most welcome ) can reply.

How much (Download/upload) speed do you get in night ( 2 to 8 ) with 2 MBps connection ? U r connection is not 2 MBps, it is upto 2 MBps.

Ur promised speed is 256 KBps and I got a DL speed of 180 in my utorrent How frequent are disconnection with BSNL ( Due to rain or faults ) In my case never How is the service given by BSNL overall ?

Please mention negative & positive points. Customer care is kinda slow.

I requested for my pswd change a week back n yet to hear 4m them How much did you pay for a new connection ?

What is the current process to apply for new connection ( Appox fees by them ) check out tis link http://www.bsnl.co.in/service/dataone_tariff.htm

First of all its a 2Mbps connection and not a 2MBps connection.

There is a huge difference in this.

A small b denotes a bit while a big B indicates a byte(it is the actual unit of file size). So when you have an approx 2Mbps connection,(It is a really 2.048Mbps) you divide it by eight to get the actual speed.

And hence you get 256KBps.

This would be your maximum speed.

. . missed out to see the diff. Anywaz KATSUMOTO, The promised speed is 256 kbps and it may go upto 2 Mbps if the BW is available.

U dont get a 2 Mbps connection for 500 plan.

2 Mbps connection is available under Home 3300 plan only (in this the promised speed is 2 Mbps) http://www.bsnl.co.in/service/dataone_tariff.htm

Talking about speed. Normal surfing is great, the site loads up the very next second. For download, the maximum i get here in chandigarh is around 230-240kbps. Average is 180 kbps. Ares- 230 Rapidshare- 170 FTP- 150 Once i got got speeds of 350 for an hour at night, not joking! The customer support is fair, though i did get my connection done the very next day i applied for it, i couldnt change my password till now.

Hmm, i do get such speed sometimes.

Speed is generally bw150-230kbps. disconnections r rare(@least in my area,gzb) http://knayam.com http://biotech-geek.com/blog2

Disconnection do happen here.

. . sometimes.

So in such case, BSNL IS actually providing a 2 MBps connection.

Isnt it? When download speeds are 230 to 250 kbps, that means the connection speed IS 2 Mbps. Correct me if i'm wrong here.

How much (Download/upload) speed do you get in night ( 2 to 8 ) with 2 MBps connection ? i get 190+KBps will cross 200. How frequent are disconnection with BSNL ( Due to rain or faults ) I never experienced disconnection How is the service given by BSNL overall ?

Please mention negative & positive points. Never got a situation to complain And one more thing, once you have booked you gotta be patience for long time.

Well tats the case here in hyd, dunno about the Bangalore situation.

. i had some weird problems with my connections and service they gave me was just damn good!

Officer himself came to my house 3 times.

Wiremen worked really hard for me.

They knew thr was no falut in wire but they checked each n every joint from my house to the main office [6-7kms]. if u follow the rules, formalities correctly then they offer a very good service.

. thats what I experienced.

And hey! this is Ratnagiri.

. small town. . it might be different in Banglore. Ajit Quote: : And one more thing, once you have booked you gotta be patience for long time.

My mom works in BSNL.

She tells me that the upper officials are bribed by Airtel, Hutch and others to give bad service.

When I first heard, I naturally laughed it off.

But almost all the employees in my mom's office know this for sure.
