Cant stay on the internet with firefox
I keep getting an error message saying that there is not an active browser on my sytem...[when i try to run firefox]
internet explorer works fine...
also, i cant stay on the internet when firefox works because it keeps crashing..
i ran mbam two nights ago and removed something that was listed as a trojan...
here is a log from hijackthis
i really really want to learn WHY i keep getting infected...
i dont surf bad sites as far as i know...
but there again, you guys have said that they can come from lots of things, emails, myspace, my own web pages i suppose?

I also noticed that when mbam was running it scanned over something called .zlob
i immediatley thought that was odd so i googled it and it seems to come bundled with antivirus 2008?
i think i had that a long time ago...
perhaps i still have variants of it or something????
im pretty concerned.

Well, as you may have discovered in the time that you have been here, these things are not easy to destroy and can re-appear if not properly dealt with.
I have had a quick look at your HJT and it appears clean, however, it is late here and I'm tired.

I too had a quick look at the logs, I think they are OK.

The sites are good but, but thing you open from them are not.
Ever get a strange ecard, d/l from an IM ?
That will do it.There seems to be a rash of bad "CODECS" that are going around also infect people.

Don't forget that these tools are reliant on malware signature files (definitions).
Although they have a degree of intelligence (heuristics) they depend on something nasty being found and submitted for analysis.
It is the result of the analysis that creates the signature for that piece of malware which is then placed in the definitions.
When you download the update you get the new detection - it may be that that registry value was always there but it wasn't until you got the update that MBAM could see it.
This is why it is vital that definition files for AV and anti malware are kept up to date.

Do you have the most recent 3.0.3 installed?

I've read where the 3.0.3 fix for the password problem in 3.0.2 was a bit too fast and introduced other problems.
What version Firefox do you have installed?
