Am I the only person who doesn't like to decorate the holidays? - bimmerfest - BMW Forums
I wish I liked it.
I try to gear up to do Halloween and managed to put some window stickies on.
My kids are very unhappy with my "un-holiday" spirit.
Every neighborhood has the guy who puts up 8 million xmas decorations out - people come from miles to see them.
What motivates this person?

I think ppl like to bring joy to others through the lights and decorations, I also believe there is an element of challenge in coming up with a design and making it work .
I am more into it than the SO but I cannot do it without him so I don't do it

I don't decorate.
To me, it's all just junk I have to store for a year just to put out for a couple of weeks.
Tina on the other hand is a nut about X-mas.
She'd put a 30' tree in the foyer if it would fit.
Me, phuck all that.
I haven't decorated since college and even then it was for parties.
If I had a big social gathering at the compound I would decorate for the party but that's it.
I did like to decorate my liver with winter time brews.

I don't like decorating but if someone else is doing it, then I like seeing the decorations for the holidays.

One of the few advantages of being Jewish is we can ignore Christmas...sure we light a few Hanukkah candles but thats about it.

I put up a fake tree with lights, but no more outdoor lights since I don't spend Christmas at home anymore.

I do and don't hate it.
Its great to do with the family, but it gets tiring year after year.
We didn't decorate for Halloween this year, not sure if we will for x-mas.

I don't do muchgenerally.
Depends on the mood I'm in for the holidays, somehow I don't see myself getting into it this year.
I have so much crap in my storage unit, if I think about it I dig a few things out and put them up.
...luckily we're in a condo, so we're limited in what we can do.
Lights on the balcony are okay, and a few things outside the door...but nothing crazy.
Unless it's really obnoxious no one seems to care.
(ie: pumpkin outside the door for halloween and a bowl with candy in it, wreath for winter holidays)
I really like candles, so usually I'll get a festive candle or two to make it more "holidayish".
I have NEVER done a christmas tree, and more than likely never will.
What a pain in the azz, and they tend to bother my allergies.
Growing up we just did one row of lights along the house, and usually put a tree up....the real fun in the tree was not the tree...but setting up the train to go around it.
....we'd end up running the train all through the house, use up all the track, and mom would get upset (then it went back to its place-just around the tree)

I've found that a lot of people have the decorations but they are getting up in years, kids are gone to college, they arn't comfortable getting on the ladder, etc.

We used to do up Halloween when the kids were lttle.
No more.
Never really did Thanksgiving decorations more than a table centerpiece for the meal itself.
Christmas, though, we do decorate...probably because it can stay up for 4+ weeks rather than just a week or so like the other holidays.

When I have kids I'm sure we'll decorate for the holidays.
Until then, we'll go to my parents to look at some decorations.
No need to clutter up my house and create more work for us.

I just nod and smile when she asks how it looks, but she keeps suckering me into it!!!!
I just do not see a point in having something in a box in the garage 11 months out of the year taking up space so if i do end up actually decorating, I usually get pissed off enough in trying to get everything down that there is not much left of it to store...last year I was a little too thorough in my decorating technique and ended up having to slice the x-mas lights down with a knife ruining them all...in the trash they went =)
