I'm thinking about getting a WAMU card for the free credit scores.

I want a very low limit...something I can use 2x a year for a small purchase, PIF and then forget for awhile.

I just want those free credit scores. Is it worth it?

That is true..plus I'm cheap so anything free is good. Mouse...I have a question for you...I recently read about your AMEX fiasco (my condolences BTW) ...what do you think of voluntary CLDs (asked for by the card holder)?

I'd like to get a WAMU card, but only want a low limit (around $500) as it won't be used much.

I live in NJ where the amout of credit you have available on cards (not how much you've used, just how much you have available) can hurt you in the car insurnace rate area.... Does it hurt to ask for credit line decreases?

I have about 100K in CLs but maybe use $700 at most and PIF all cards 2x a month I only want the WAMU for the free PFICO....

CLD on purpose is a sign of INSANITY Unless you are talking about reallocation from one card to another . I got the card for the score.

While I don't live my life for the score its nice to get for nothing.

Go for it.

I rec'd a WAMU card a few months ago and my score hasn't updated since 4/12.

Does that mean it hasn't changed since then ?

I wouldn't get it for the scores alone.

It doesn't really have much value.

Do you need to know your Bankcard Enhanced FICO every month?

Usually by the time they update the score it's 3-4 weeks old. If you already have a banking relationship with WAMU, then sure go ahead.

Otherwise I wouldn't bother. It's a decent card.

So far they've given me a CLI every 6 months.

The T&C and BT offers while not the best haven't been too bad. How much available credit does the insurance company consider too much?

I got the card for the 0.00% BT The PFICO was secondary Last edited by mouse on Sat Jun 02, 2007 10:50 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Maybe I'll find out in October when I renew with Geico.

My available credit went from 5K to nearly 100 K the last two weeks.

I'm betting it won't go up.

I'm in NJ. They haven't paid me any claims since I am with them actually I haven't had a claim in over 25 years.

We'll see.

We'll see. No claims or accidents 30+ years But I still got that... ADVERSE ACTION: "EXCESSIVE AVAILABLE CREDIT LIMITS" They have said in the local newspaper here that they have scrapped the DUI CHECK POINTS in favor of the "EXCESSIVE AVAILABLE CREDIT LIMITS" check points And all the insurance companies pay the SHERIFF and POLICE OFFICERS to send copies of their check point busts . The "EXCESSIVE AVAILABLE CREDIT LIMITS" check points tests involve holding ALL your credit cards in one hand without dropping one card Then they hold each card up (TOP 1/2 OF IT COVERED) and ask you what the name of the bank is that they covered up...

That's funny mouse.

Oh well, got that wonderful denial....probably for too many inquiries (with a 762 FICO, no negatives, less than 1% UT).

I'll try again next year...maybe. Are there any other cards that give free FICOs? I'm not in the market for a house or a car (just got the new car in Dec...60 month loan that I now have less than 26 more months to pay on) though I might sell my house and move (but with a 15 year fixed 4.375% mortgage should I??) so the FICO score really doesn't matter much right now..except for our stupid auto insurance.

I got denied for too many INQ's. I wanted that PFICO!!! Damn them.

Wow.

That's amazing they denied you with that score.

How many inquiries do you have? I believe that Juniper offers a free FICO score on one or more of their cards, but I don't know any details. Wouldn't the insurance company be using the insurance industry scoring model, not the traditional or bankcard FICO?

Quote: : I got denied for too many INQ's. I wanted that PFICO!!! Damn them. How many inquiries? Really, the bankcard FICO is pretty useless anyway, and it's almost a month old by the time they give it to you. When I got mine last year, they were giving 12 months 0% on purchases and 0% 0 fee BT.

That was more attractive than the score. Best BT offer they are giving me now is 1.9% with a 5% fee capped at $150. Credit card aside, they're the best bank I've ever dealt with.
