Roy Williams Wuss Alert - HogsTrough
Http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp...tory?id=4403194
Quote: SAN ANTONIO -- Dallas Cowboys receiver Roy Williams has missed practice because of a sore left wrist and his status is uncertain.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Williams was having X-rays and an MRI taken on the wrist Sunday afternoon.
Jones said Williams hurt his wrist when he came down hard during Sunday's morning practice and that the receiver was sore when he returned in the afternoon.
With the departure of Terrell Owens, Williams is expected to the Cowboys' No.

Is TO a wuss? He's sitting out with a sprained toe.
Typical case of stars sitting because it's pre season whether the coach's decision or the player's decision.
Cutthroat TEAM DEF -QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, FLEX, PK, DEF
QB: Donovan McNabb
RB: Willie Parker
RB: Rashard Mendenhall
WR: Dwayne Bowe
WR: Devin Hester
PK: David Akers
Cutthroat IDP -QB, RB, WR, TE, O-FLEX, LB, DB, DL, D-FLEX
WR: Dwayne Bowe
RB: Pierre Thomas
LB: Barrett Ruud
DL: Dwight Freeney
If Brett Favre played poker, how could you tell if he was really folding?

Honestly, as much as I can't stand TO I never have doubted his toughness.
He did return for the SB after his leg injury.
I'm just not big on Roy W.
As a Cowboy fan or as a fantasy owner.
Lazy routes and not the guy I thought coming out of UT

So he is a wuss because you don't like him and players like him or Steve Smith or the other 50 or so players should practice or play even if they are injured.
Got it!

Welll yeah.
Come on Ice. I've been here forever and have been realistic and rarely talk any noise.
I'm a massive Cowboy fan and just think the guy has been soft in his NFL career.
I know guys sit the preseason.
I hate the preseason.
I never said I dialike the guy overall.
I loved him at UT.
I just think he has played below his potential since UT.
My questions on him are the norm and have nothing to do with not "liking" the guy.

Me being a dumbass and being wrong in this case would actually be a good thing.
He needs to have a good year.

I'm with you Miller.
I've weighed in with my opinion on Williams in the past - worst FA deal in the history of the Cowboys IMO.
However, I really have no choice at this point except to root the lazy bastard on and hope his career is revitalized.
Wait, check that.
I hope his career materializes.
I hope to be so wrong that I am buying a RW jersey by season's end, but I'm not holding my breath.

I will just say that it appears that Williams has rededicated himself this year and has been getting good press in camp.
No doubt he only had one good year in Detroit.
Injuries and the culture in Detroit certainly have not helped.
Williams has serious upside in Dallas due to significant talent on the offensive side of the ball so he should have a solid year if he can stay healthy.
His recent wrist injury was not a result of being lazy but one in which he was fighting for a ball and came down wrong.
BTW he finished practice and only brought it to the coaches attention prior to the afternoon practice due to soreness.
The Cowboys held him out to schedule a MRI.
Williams is in the best shape of his life by all accounts and has been working with Romo a month prior to camp to get their timing down.
I wouldn't downgrade him too much as WR #1 in a Cowboys system as that position is a serious producer from a fantasy perspective.
He has top 10 potential as a WR this year and has been moving into the top 15 in many projections in spite of his lost season last year.

Good info...I had read alot of this...and if someone wants to change the wuss subject line on here they can.
I just saw it, and as I explained above, I've had no faith in the guy since he came out if UT.
I just read too much about his working style there.
So when I saw the injury I kind of just shook my head.
Could have been the culture.
I hope it changes for our sake.
He was a freak of nature in college and showed it for one year in Detroit so I'd be happy to see it this year with a top QB and other talent around him.

I'm curious to get some locals take on Romo.
Seems like his value is lower than it should be and some are calling for outright bust.
He had the huge year in '07 but last year was solid in the games he played (26 TD's in 13 games).
I don't see nearly as big a diff.
From Rodgers/Rivers/Warner as most, even without TO (not necessarily a bad thing) and DAL potentially running it more.
On that team I still think Romo has 30 TD and top 5 QB potential.
Would really like to get some 'Boys opinions.
Thanks.

Romo is a very solid NFL QB.
His rating has never even dipped into the 80's.
That said, the Cowboys are facing multiple teams this year weaker against the run IMO so I expect them to pound the ball on the ground more this year.
They are running a ton of two TE sets.
Romo is a gunslinger type but given their schedule I just don't see him as a top tier QB from a fantasy perspective.
I see him in the 7-9 range.
25 TD's is closer to reality from my perspective.
Bust is crazy talk...
While he is young compared to the greats, his all time rating would rank him top 5.
I do not expect him to stay there as bad years will probably happen but he is way above average from an efficiency standpoint.

Man, I could read your Cowboys posts all day.
You're obviously more educated and get your points across with the written word better than I, and you give me hope in the Cowboys....an area in which I'm sorely lacking (hope).
Peace!

Well said.
I don't think the guy is a bust this year at all.
In fact, with all that Ice said, I could see his stats rise.
I think with the the 2 TE sets and them pounding the running game, its going to open up being able to spread the ball.
I feel he really did force the ball to TO last year and that cost him in the INTs category.
I could see both TEs getting more red zone looks as teams try to pinch the running game and I can see that lob to Roy W working.
We will see but I see a really strong year from him.

"She" ..come on Roy, we need you
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp...tory?id=4427772
Quote: ARLINGTON, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Roy E.
Williams is likely done for the preseason after injuring his left shoulder on a goal-line collision with cornerback Orlando Scandrick, a source told ESPN's Michael Smith.
Williams was down for longer than normal, then was examined by athletic trainers and shouted in anger as he headed into the locker room before the workout ended.
X-rays were negative, but Williams will ice his shoulder and be re-examined Friday morning, a source told ESPN's NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Williams might've been upset because he and Scandrick keep getting tangled up.
During training camp, Scandrick -- who is battling Mike Jenkins for a starting job -- hit Williams hard enough to knock his helmet off (the chin strap wasn't buckled) and was covering Williams again on a play when Williams landed hard and sprained his wrist.
The Cowboys are counting on Williams to replace Terrell Owens as Tony Romo's top target.
If Scandrick was a little too aggressive for a practice conducted in helmets but no pads, he might have a good excuse: There were 26,460 fans watching.
The video boards were in full use and there was even a halftime performance by cheerleaders, giving it a far different feel than any other helmet-and-no-pads workout.
"It's football," linebacker Bradie James said.
"I mean, sometimes people run into each other.
Hopefully that's all it is."

I agree with this.
Give him a chance to fail in Dallas.
It is hard to measure someone's career who has only played full seasons in Detroit.
That place is like football player blackhole.
It sucks them in and chews them apart.
I agree that we spent too much to get him, but since we did the best we can do is hope he pans out.
I don't think he has a chance to prove anything either way yet.
Lets Go Cowboys!
