Razors (For shaving, not for being Emo) - OrlandoForums.com :: #1 Online Community for Central Florida
I hadn't seen a thread on this since ever actually.
Not saying it doesn't exist of course.
What's everyone use/prefer?
What's people's opinions of cost vs.
Value? How often do you shave?
How long does a razor last for you?
For men, I mean face or head, not arms/legs/body etc.
Ladies, I mostly mean legs...
I don't much want to hear about you shaving your faces.
Further, on a scale of 1-10 how bad is the hair you destroy razors with?
1 being a 14 year old boy and 10 being a Viking warrior or true woods Lumberjack.
Lastly, why can't they make a Tungsten-Carbide razor?
I mean, I'd spend $30 on a razor I could use for a couple months....
Mine last about 4 shaves of the face before it's just a total pain to use anymore.
Mach 3's die when forced to cut the sandpaper that is my face after 24 hours.
And sadly, I can't really skip a day of shaving cause the hair grows so f'n fast.
Electric razors are useless.

Gillette Fusion. I switched to cheap razors once and they were NO match either in shaving ability or durability.
I've tried them all, and for me, Fusion FTW.
On a scale of 1-10 I'd say I'm about a 7.5-8.

And how many shaves does said razor last?
Average cost?

The powered fusion FTW.
But i figured since i dont need to be skin close shave i have trimmers and use that.
Its razor bump free.
So i dont use the fusion too often.
Its like $24 for a 6 or 12 pack.
Kinda pricey but they dont irritate your skin.
i would only advice going straight from disposable 1 blade to 5 bladed razors.
You will be used to multiple swipes on the disposable and when you get the fusion you multiply each swipe by 4 0r 5 and that will irritate your skin.

No longer use a razor.
I have a Braun 360 that I have been using for the last 2yrs and it is as good as a regular razor.
If you buy electric, expect to pay around $200 for one that actually works.
Also have not needed to replace the blade yet.

I use the Mach 3, I have tough skin so I can honestly shave without shaving cream and it won't irritate.

You can get electric ones that shave well, but they never really get a clean shave that a blade will..
I use mach III for normal shaving, i'd say im a 7-8 on a 10 scale..
Grows back within a few days....
I also shave against the grain for a cleaner shave...

I use a electric Norelco most of the time its only about $100 works fine for me and I also have a Fusion razor which is the best razor i think

I've always sworn by Venus razors.
The only downside is that the blades are expensive and I go through them fast because I'm a hairy she-beast.

Gillete Fusion Power FTW.
I usually make a point of buying the cartridges when I do business overseas (usually Panama), since they're much cheaper there.
A 32 cartridge pack (which lasts me about 3 months) costs about $40 at Costco.
I get one for $28 in Arrocho Drugs anywhere in Panama.

Gilette fusion powered here too.
I like the fact that they have a strip that shows you when its time to replace it.
I dont have to shave too often, I do it every other day, and in the 1 day that I skip, I still look presentable for work.
The replacement packs are on the pricey side but they last long

Gillette fusion, but I am a man, I honestly change the blade 1 every 2 months, maybe more.
Use it nearly daily.
I have a goatee, but I shavne my upper lip.
Only use shaving cream half the time, I have a magic can of shaving cream that God I honestly have no clue how old it is, I am talking over a year, and I use it several times a week.

Mach III and the cheapie spray foam.

Mach III then switched to Fusion shortly after they came out.
I ****ing hate shaving...
I get maybe 2-3 uses per razor.
I would say my facial hair is probably 8.5 on the 10 point scale.
I can't shave every day or my skin would be hamburger meat...
Have to rest my skin so I usually shave once every 1 - 1.5 weeks or so if I'm able to go that long.
Shave in the shower and usually soak my beard in hot water for a good 20 mins before I shave.
This along with fusion and aveno sensitive skin creme gives the best results if you have sensitive skin and facial hair like razor pubes lol.

See.. so in the end they are no cheaper than more expensive refillable razors.

I've been using the Mach 3 for quite a while now, and I prefer the turbo version.
I shave almost every day.
I may skip a day on my day off from work, if I skip 2 days, I start looking like Wolfman-in-training.
With the old Trac II's, I used to go through 1 blade only every few days -- especially disposables.
With the Mach 3, I can usually get 2-3 weeks or more out of one blade.
It seems the trick, which I read about one time, is to gently dry the blade after each shave.
I find that I cut myself a lot less than when I used the twin blades, as well.
As for shaving cream, a basic one dollar can of Barbasol or Gilette Foamy is all I use.

Straight razor, and a leather belt ..
Can basically shave my whole face in like 5 swipes

I don't even know what I use...
They're the 3 blade disposables Schick I think...
Even though I rock the 5 o clock pretty hard

Mine's pretty bad.
People see me when i come into work and by the end of the shift they go "You didn't shave today did you?" And if I don't shave for a day, the hair ends up being so long it's soft.
Sucks.
I'd really like to try the straight razor.
I figure i'll end up dead though.
Haha.

But I only shave every other day, so maybe less for your sand paper face.
But even Mach 3 can't compare in closeness or efficiency IMO.

I use this Norelco groomer thinger.
I only use a Gilette razor (the regular ones) for my upper lip.
No razor bumps, burns, etc.
Ever since I've been using it.
When I used to use a regular razor, I'd shave as soon as I got out of the shower.
While it helped to minimize the irritation after, it wasn't 100% effective.
I retain a little stubble using this but it's fine with me.
I could use a razor to clean things up but I don't really need to since it's hardly noticeable.
I shave at the end of the week.
