Flickr: The Help Forum: Original Resolution "Photo Currently Unavailable" using the Flickr API

Hi All - I'm using the Flickr API to create a website where our staff can download multiple resolutions of our product images. All resolutions work just fine, except the "Original" resolution.

I thought that maybe this was a setting somewhere in my account settings, but I can't seem to find anything. I also have the Flickr Pro account purchased if that makes a difference. You can see what I am talking about by visiting the link below and clicking "high res".

Note that although the button I created says "high res", I am actually trying to download the "Original" resolution. www.kolcraft.com/gallery/index.php?keyword=JC007-XIM THANKS in advance for everyone's time.

You can't use Flickr to sell stuff.

From the Community Guidelines: Don’t use Flickr for commercial purposes . Flickr is for personal use only.

If we find you selling products, services, or yourself through your photostream, we will terminate your account.

@elementalPaul Thanks for the prompt response but this flickr page is not used as an avenue to "sell stuff" but rather as a resource to share our product photography. Thanks

How does this grab you.

Also from the Community Guidelines: Don’t upload anything that isn't yours . This includes other people's photos, video and/or stuff you've collected from around the Internet.

Accounts that consist primarily of such collections may be terminated at any time. Your stream seems to consist of a bunch of photos from a catalogue.

Did you take those photographs?

Are you a member of the Flickr staff??? Yes, I work for Kolcraft and am willing to provide the appropriate credentials to a member of the Flickr staff if this is an issue. Yes, I took these photos. Therefore I do not believe I am in violation of any terms of service.

Please stop littering my thread with these unwarranted accusations.

I am looking for HELP. Thank You

This is a public forum, so you're inviting anyone to respond to your issue, so it isn't "littering".

And frankly it's a viable observation and fair warning to you.

The "don't use Flickr for commercial purposes" goes beyond "selling stuff", and if an account is filled with nothing but what appears to be product shots and product descriptions, Flickr staff may consider it an attempt to use the site for something it was not intended for. You can ignore the fair warning if you wish. As to your issue, you might check out a "Flickr API Group", and ask about it.

I know the original sizes have a different "secret" filename than the other sizes, so you may need to included an authorization to your account in there somewhere, for it to grab them.

Also, the trade off to be allowed to use Flickr's bandwidth for your purposes, is that you're required to link each photo back to the photo page itself.

Failing to do so violates the terms of the API as well as Flickr's guidelines.
