Have roof top air conditioner that blows air but - FixYa

Have roof top air conditioner that blows air but soon trips breaker.

Any suggestions? Henry

Check the condensor fan in the rooof unit.

It's the fan blowing on the cpil on the roof..

If it failed, the head preasures can becme excessive andwork the compressor hard causing the breaker to trip.

Let me know and good luck, Ned_ Comments:

Just looking at some of the answers to this problem. One of the things not said, is the power source. Does the unit blow the breakers when on generator? Are you running off an extension cord to a A/C outlet ? Do you get a normal amount of air flow from the registers.? Have you checked the wiring at the fuse panel and the size of breaker you are using , against the required size for you roof top unit.? Does the wiring get hot when unit a/c runs.

? Does the unit a/c startup and run, or does it try to start and fail.

? Does the motor run freely or slow down when running.? Just a few things to look at. Hope this helps.

My airconditioner unit on my camper trips the breaker when turned on.

We removed the cover and got the fan turning and now it is blowing good, but only when the fan or heat is on.

As soon as we turn the unit to cool the breaker trips.

Can you help me. Angie G.
