Why in the world would you want to tighten your neck and jaw?!!!

I think they mean the skin and muscle not the actual cervical spine and jaw bone.

(someone mentioned it another thread )

I am an avid practitioner of Vinyasa yoga.

I firmly believe that the combination of vinyasa, taichi and meditation is the reason why I have not been sick for years.

Im talking no colds, flus, sore throats, etc. At the very least, when I wake up and before I go on my morning run/cardio exercise, I go through a series of Sun Salutations (A and B) to get myself ready for the day.

Yes--I mean the skin and muscle---this area droops with age...

Here are a couple of good vids from YouTube. Sun Salutations.

This is what I do sometimes to warm up before my workout. YouTube - Yoga - Sun Salutation Another good one: YouTube - Yoga Sun Salutations - Dancing Warrior For those who want a complete full workout, follow along with this one: YouTube - The Ashtanga Primary Series

No one else here realizes the value of yoga when it comes to health and even weight control?

Yeah, it's the way americans approach, understand and work with just one aspect (or branch) of yoga. and it's good. a healthy balanced body is a wonderful thing. it's not, however, the essential objective of hatha yoga. it's the result that westerners (americans in particular) are fixated on because people are so attached to material, to form, to surface, to external beauty, to weight, etc., etc., etc..

And are, generally speaking, rather ignorant and disinterested in who, in essence they are and what, essentially, is going on.

Unfortunately you are right.

Even with my years of teaching and practicing taichi, many are not interested in the deeper spiritual (not religious) aspect of the art and its the same with yoga.

Thankfully, there are those of us who DO understand and who DO appreciate the deeping understanding of both taichi and yoga.
