The legal tint changes in each city, I know that Denver does not allow dark tint.

If an officer cannot readily see inside your vehicle at a traffic stop, you may be in for a lot of flack for your obstructed windows.
Most window tint shops know the difference between what is generally acceptable and what is too dark, especially on windows that the driver normally needs to see out of (side and rear).

This is the Damn police, in the business for 25 years, and I can tell you that as long as an officer can see in your window you will be ok.
Like sunsprit says, all tint shops will know what the legal limit is also.

Just to let you know.
I am behind the Damn Police.
You have a job that needing to see inside is for your safety and the safety of others.
Thank you for the job you have chosen to do.
We would really be up the creek or in deep kimchi without the law inforcement.
Just wish there were more of you.
Thanks. Oh and shame on those who do not appreciate you.
They need to walk in your shoes for a day.
If you have not a guilty conscience then why hate the law enforcers?
Sure there are those that are power mongers but that is the world not just the police.

I just asked an Colorado LEO the same question a couple of weeks ago.
Here is a small part of what was given in response...
Front and rear side windows and the back windows can all be tinted, as long as all windows allow 27% net light to pass through.
No mirrored tint is allowed in any window.
