LEE COOMBS
A taste maker, hit maker and true industry icon, over the past two decades, Lee Coombs has steadily built a reputation for himself the world over for his skills in the studio and as a DJ.
In support of his new artist album ‘Light & Dark’ out on UK label Lot49, Coombs is headed to Australia for shows across the country during October and November....kicking it all off at Destination!
Having released through heavyweight labels Finger Lickin’ and Perfecto, Lee Coombs has gained support from the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Pete Tong and a wide selection of top tier international DJs.
Lee Coombs’ talent for producing world class records and remixes has seen him rework tracks for Moby, New Order, Lamb, Planet Funk and alike.
A pioneer in his own right, Coombs is one of the co-creators of the Tech-Funk genre having coining the term alongside fellow industry vets Elite Force, Meat Katie and Dylan Rhymes way back when.
His latest project ‘Light & Dark’ is a product of more than two years in the studio for Coombs as he takes us through the history of electronic music, whether we were there to see it or not.
The album carries the raw essence and edginess of 1991’s burgeoning music scene as Lee manages to warp time by creating a masterpiece of a record that seamlessly blends his musical experience and genius from both the past and the present.
Grimy old school analogue sounds are fused with bold tech drum progressions and the BIG techy sounds that Lee is known for.
His innovative use of vocal cuts and innate ability to infect all his music with that little touch of dirty sonic mayhem make for an album that is mind blowing and a live show that takes it even further.
Fusing elements from all the genres he favours is a definitive mark of Lee Coombs’ music.
By integrating aspects of Techno, Funk, Breaks, House, Electro, Soul and Rock, Coombs has once again broken the boundaries of music and how we perceive it.
“I love electronic music but even more I love to mix it with the more real live sounding styles, keeping it eclectic.”
Taking the album onto the dancefloor, Lee Coombs’ live sets take listeners through a time warp of classic hits and beyond.
For the upcoming tour, Aussie audiences will not only get to experience ‘Dark & Light’ on the dance floor as it was intended, but Lee will bring with him a heap of new music made specifically to play live, as well as some upcoming remixes mapping out a true adventure in sound.
“I see the dancefloor as a place you can go on a musical journey.
I'm always thinking ahead and trying to push my production to new places but give more than a nod back to the old skool, and the roots of where this whole thing started in the late eighties and early nineties.
I carry a huge selection of music to my gigs and love pulling old Acid house classics out when the time is right.”

Nice!!
nltc played here last weekend and it was fuckin' brilliant!
this night is going to be huge, quality stuff putting this together
d*funk's here this weekend and lee the next, but all on the same night would be EPIC!
make sure you have a wireless mic / mic with very long cable for nltc - he rocks out all over the place while mc'ing.
Such a great great night, shame i can't quite remember it all.
It is also dangerous to have a quiet drink with nltc.
I blame this on the memory bit hehe
great stuff destination

I wish we had the same licensing hours down here...
Those times are perfect for an old-timer like myself.
The big guns don't start until at least 2am here and the night ends at 6am if not later.
Ugh!
