Yep, her leg is fractured.

Actually, it's the shin bone, kinda the bottom part that is curved where the bone meets the ankle parts (how's that for a scientific explanation?

Lol!). The dr wasn't really convincing "we think this area is where the fracture is".

Think? you think that's where?

Anyways, the curved part just looked a little brighter white on the x-ray.

I guess I was expecting to see something that looked like a break.

But it wasn't very obvious.

Anyways, 2 more weeks and the cast comes off.

Just two more weeks.

We can do this. Man, does it smell bad, though. Gotta run, you know.

Work and everything.

Think? you think that's where? Yea doesn't sound like he was very convincing to me either!

Ugh poor lil Ava!

How is she doing w/ her cast?

At least it's not broken or anything and 2 wks is def.

Better than 2 months or something!

I can't even imagine what it must smell like!

Yeah, really strange how "iffy" he was.

GRRRR. Here's hoping the next 2 weeks fly by!!

Oh lil Ava dear! Hope you guys make it through the next two weeks ok and it flies by.

Is she getting around ok with it now? Tiffany DH Jason Mom of 4 Girls & Daycare Provider Abrienne (15) Chloe (9) Lauren (4) Isabelle (2) Helping a wonderful couple create their family through Surrogacy ~ EDD 5/3/10 Doing Puberty, Playdates, Preschool, Pampers & Pregnancy!!!

Aww poor Ava!! At least it's not broken, though.

I agree the doc's "I think ..." statement is kind of un-assuring...

Hopefully when you take her back in 2 weeks there will be no "iffy-ness" and her leg will check out "all better"!! Hope the next 2 weeks fly by for you guys!

Thanks guys! Ava's doing great with the cast.

It's not slowing her down one bit. Quote: : they had a toddler stick cereal down her cast and it made a hole in her leg where the cheerio was omg!

My dr also warned me not to let her stick anything down there.

I'm just glad it's winter and she's wearing pants so I hope that it's not likely she would. BUT funny story....at dc, the teacher changed Ava's diaper and she had a nilla wafer in her dipey.

She was wearing a long sleeve onesie, so her teacher had no idea how it got in there.

She changed her, and then at her next diaper change, she had another nilla wafer in her dipey!

So I'm actually a little concerned that she could somehow manage to stick something down there.

Quote: : she had a nilla wafer in her dipey I wonder how she is getting them in there I would have loved to have seen the teachers face when she changed Ava's diaper!

Quote: : at dc, the teacher changed Ava's diaper and she had a nilla wafer in her dipey Maybe she was saving it for later.

ROTFL, EWWW!!! Isn't that what the couch cushions are for?! Sara, glad to hear she's doing so well!

It's probably just that little people's bones are so soft yet, that it's hard to find a fracture.

Brenna was 6 when she broke her arm, and even then, they had a hard time finding the break because her bones were still young and soft.

I'm glad Ava is able to get around well.

And thankfully she doesn't have to keep the cast on for too long. Jenn, that makes total sense about the soft bones.

I wonder then, does that mean that her fracture will heal better since she's young than if she broke it later in life?

Quote: : Maybe she was saving it for later. e I don't know if it means it will heal better, but it certainly heals faster.

The cast will be on for 4 weeks total.

The dr said if this fracture was in an adult, it would be 8 weeks or more.

Okay now I get it.

I was really confused with the "short" 4 weeks, because I broke my ankle and had the cast on FOREVER!

But I was 19 yrs old when it happened.

Yes, they not only heal faster, but they are fused stronger once they are healed.

Brenna is now 9 and holds the school record for the flex arm hang!!!

She is young, thin, and has strong arms.

I hope the 2 weeks, goes really fast. Jolene DH-Patrick DS#1 3 1/2 years DS#2 2 years Baby Girl due October 9 2009
