Logitech G5 laser mouse - [H]ard|Forum
So I picked up this Logitech G5 laser mouse at a garage sale last year for $1, brought it home and found out that it skipped around when attempting to move the cursor.
It jumped left and right when I was moving vertically, and its movement was very sporadic and intermittent.
I cleaned it out and the issue persisted.
Eventually I decided to install the software / driver: setpoint.
It all worked right away after that.
The skipping juts went away.
That was all on my windows box.
Problem is that I want to use this on my OS X box, and there is no driver for OS X.
Also, using Overdrive for OS X wasn't able to change the jumping around.
I read through some logitech kb articles, and they suggested updating the firmware on the mouse.
I did that, and the issue persisted...
What I am looking for is this:
Is this a common issue?
Has ANYONE seen this issue, with the g5 skipping around on the screen?
Long shot -- any suggested solutions for getting this to work on my OS X box?

Im sure there was a reason it was sold for a dollar and you found the reason..
There really isnt much driver support out there for osx..
But thats really apples fault for pushing companies away..

It probably means the mouse laser is dying.
I had that happen to me.
Had to replace it.

It maybe be worth a shot emailing Logitech customer support about a replacement.
I bought a G5 at circuit city closeout with no box, accessories or receipt.
Scroll wheel started squeaking pretty loudly and they replaced it no problem, including accessories.
They can look up by the number on it to see if its still within its 3 year warranty.
