I have been using AT&T Yahoo for my E-mail via dial access.
I am finally geting high speed via Roadrunner and planned to cancel the monthly AT&T monthly dial charge.
If I do cancel the AT&T dial will I lose my present AT&T Yahoo capabilities and lose all my stored mail folders as well as E-mail?
I have the AT&T Yahoo page just the way I like it plus I store all my mail folders on their server(s).

I'd expect that anything that resides on their servers would go away once they're not getting rent on the space.
Anything that resides on your own machine would probably still be there.

Based on what happened to friends of mine make very sure RoadRunner (WarnerBros Cable around here) can do the installation so it will work.
My friends were going that route and WB cancelled the installation call twice then came and said it was installed when it wasn't.
My friends eventually cancelled the WB installation and stayed with ATT.
File this under, "You know what you got but you don't know what you're gonna get."

The flawless install was a plus.
It pays to have a technician that knows his business.

Many services, inluding AOL, offer discounts for those who are on DSL.
Generally it is about half.
They are not paying for the dial up system that way.
You are only paying for their on line availabilities.

You can get AOL addresses without a subscription.
FREE! Your AIM buddy name is your address.

Buford, Some people just want AOL...don't ask me why.
I looked at it & I don't want it, that's for sure.
But I did see an offer for free AOL if you have high speed access via RR or DSL...guess they collect your data while you use their service???
I, like you, do wonder why anyone would want AOL if they have RR...but then I have RR with Earthlink.

Agreed.
I had a brush with AOL and had to contact the Attorney Generals of both my state and the state they are incorporated in (Virginia at that time) to cut the ties.
The stampede away from COMPUSERVE when AOL took over was a very clear indication what people, at least back then, thought about AOL.

I have aol, prodigy, earthlink, and Juno.
I have reasons for keeping each one.
AOL is one of the first E-mail addresses I got, handles big files better, and I had found since, that my E-mail address could have been taken up by several people.
I access them by DSL at work, or by Dial up at home.
I don't use AOL numbers for dial up as I don't have their program on any computer I use and their numbers won't work without their program.

Roger, I guess that is the problem with AOL, I don't have any software for internet use on my computer other than the drivers for my connections, ethernet or wireless.
I assume there are drivers for my router, but when I connected the cables, I was on the internet.
Earthlink has software I can use if I like, but I find most of that software is not necessary and not something I want...and a lot of it tends to slow you down.
JMHO.

With EARTHLINK and PRODIGY/ATT, all you need is to get their phone numbers.
You can set up the computer to dial the number through accessories, communications, dial up networking
That will diel the number, and then use your favorite browser to get on line.
With juno and aol, you need their software to use their dial numbers.
I get to all of them through the internet right now.
When my main computer crashed on me, I went to getting my E-mail from on line, and now there is way too much to download directly.
I would have to download them in sections and there are thousands of E-mails on each one.
If you have DSL or the dial up setup I mentioned above, you can access them on line by going to your home page and then clicking on MAIL.
A few password pages, depending on the survice, and you can get your E-mail.
