RealGM • View topic - Shard off the bench?
Yeah he's a starter, and an extremely high paid one at that, but does anyone doubt the offensive firepower that our SL has shown over the past few games?

Alternatively, could we resurrect the possibility of playing Shard at SF?
I think the Ryno/Bass duo has proven that it not only holds its own at PF, but that it may well be just as valuable as Rashard at that position.
Would it be the worst thing in the world to split 48 PF minutes between Anderson and Brandon every game?

I hope SVG keeps Ryno at the PF when shard gets back.
He plays so much like Rashard that I think the mismatches are about the same.
He gives up a little quickness, but makes up for it with size and rebounding, which is perfect for a PF.
I really want to see what Rashard can do at the SF spot.

He can be seated on his own goldplated bench with diamonds and soft drinks beside the regular bench and come in whenever he feels like it
jokes aside, he's a shooter he needs to get into the rythm so extended minutes for Shard is a priority.
But yea, the so called "second unit" is kicking serious ass lately

I actually think it's a great idea.
However, I would leave the decision up to Rashard if I were SVG and I actually wanted to do this.
He's a veteran and he deserves to start.
I also wouldn't want to see him upset over being 'benched' and not play motivated.
Dealing with all of the ego/psyches of this talented roster might be the hardest thing that Stan has to handle this year.
In that respect, Phil Jackson is the Zen master of that sort of psychology.
I believe Phil would ask Rashard for his opinion before making a decision.

I don't see Rashard as the type to have any troubles deferring to players around him, but I doubt this happens.
Van Gundy wouldn't do it, and Rashard wouldn't let it either.

I'm just blown away by Ryno's performance.
The dude is just flat out balling.
Would be a shame to see him lose rhythm by going to the bench.
i'd definitely like to tinker with the Dwight/Ryno/Shard frontcourt for a bit, to see what it can do and if it can hold its own on D.
and upon reaching the end of the road, they realised they had the power to do it all along

Rashard Lewis is unequivocally the second best player on this team.
No he will not come off of the bench.
Also, that Anderson is starting these first 10 games is a BIG sign that Lewis will play the 4 from game 11.
