Encyclopaedia Metallum: The Metal Archives :: View topic - New Lich King album, new tracks online + cover art.

Alright, so Lich King has posted a new video teasing the upcoming third release, entitled World Gone Dead , due later this year. Official announcement: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iq5LHGy4yEY If you head over to their official MySpace - http://www.myspace.com/lichkingmetal - you can find four new tracks revealed and the album artwork revealed. The very last announcement from Lich King is that we will now be able to see them live, which was the root of much criticism, concerning if Lich King were an actual band or a disguised one-man project. I'm enjoying the new tracks so far, and I personally like the new band logo angled as it is.

I think it really fits them.

It feels like it carries a little more weight now. Thoughts, opinions, etc?

Discuss!

This band is rather annoying to me.

It just feels like a big joke and the music doesn't sound very honest, in my humble opinion.

To each their own.

Considering Lich King aren't a serious band, I don't take them seriously.

It just allows me to enjoy them more. They just play some very fun thrash.

They do have some great riffs every once in awhile though. Edit: Plus, if they do tour near me(Bay Area), then i'll defintely go check them out, just to see how it'd be like.

I've always assumed Lich King was a one man band, so I want to see how the live shows are gonna work.

I've always assumed Lich King was a one man band, so I want to see how the live shows are gonna work. But the music is utter shit, so there's no reason to be listening to them.

Never liked the older stuff I've heard from them, I'm just expecting that band member to come in and refute every single slightly negative post again.

Since you have already stated in your opinion that they are shit, you are not allowed to say that again, because it's just redundancy for the sake of redundancy, and you'll be furthering the problem of every thread deteriorating into "x band sucks ass lololol". Secondly, since the dude from Lich King is a graphic designer as well, I can give him props on the sweet hand-drawn artwork.

I'm just glad they are staying away from the whole "pizza partying thrashin' punk poserslaughter" theme and shit.

I'm actually semi-anticipating this album.

I enjoyed Toxic Zombie Onslaught, and if the new album is anything like it ( which I'm sure it will be) I'll be sure to buy it.

The album art looks awesome, just like their other two albums.

And live shows? I know they're a joke and all.

But i would definitely pay money to see this act.

Actually the new album will probably be more on the side of Adult Contemporary... No but seriously.

I'm interested in hearing it, plus the live shows.

Given Lich King is based in Mass, i'm bound to make the gigs.

Oh please tell me this is gonna be another 20 page Lich King thread.

What, again? Could have sworn the last one was announced five minutes ago. Good to see some bands are still willing to release albums in back to back years, although the quality still has to be worthwhile for anyone to care. H.P.

Lovecraft: The Nameless Quote: : I was plunged into the ghoul-pooled darkness of earth's bowels with a deafening peal of metallic music whose reverberations swelled out to the distant world to hail the rising sun as Memnon hails it from the banks of the Nile.

I'll be looking forward to it, I thought their thrash metal style was a fun though did wear thin after a while.

They still wrote some killer riffs at times and some songs were just downright hilarious in badassery. Plus, "Black Metal Sucks" was great

Really? This is the band that everyone and their mother seems to love?

I'm not getting all the praise.

Someone please explain to me what I'm missing. "aaand I heard the grandmother one day: 'I need some cigarettes..

I need some cigarettes'...

Sh-she answered the door and she's like 'y-y-yes?' and I said, 'here you go, darlin'..

And I handed her over a pack of cigarettes and she's like 'oh my god'."

Do not make demands to me. B.

Do not lump me in with the turds that ruin every thread by doing the "this band sucks, but I don't have a reason for it," bullshit.

I've stated my opinion very clearly beforehand.

If I think the band sucks, then I'm allowed to point out as such, especially considering the post I made before it.

New tracks sound like a big improvement from the last album (I may delete that review, it's pretty dumb), but I don't like that new thrash has that compressed loudness-war production.

I will say that although they aren't serious, they are 100x better than Austrian Death Machine.

Fuck that band for dirtying the Ahnuld legacy.

While they seem to be repeating the same riff a bit too often, I really like the direction that their vocalist is taking.

This is most evident toward the end of Terror Consumes .
