Any good deals on mp3 players out there? - Overclockers Forums

Would like to purchase a new mp3 player, but I'm not up to date on the places to find good deals, except for buy.com Would anyone like to assist me ?

I got a 30gb ipod video on ebay a couple years ago for a really good price..

Still works great.

How good of a deal are you looking for, and on what sort of player?

Geeks.com has a bunch of refurbished 8GB iPod Nanos for $115, or if you want something that's actually decent, they also have a 16GB Sansa View for $80.

Walmart had the 8GB shuffle on clearance for $48.

Its a great little player.

You can get an 8GB nano for $99 straight from apple.

I have both and would recommend both.

The Sansa Clip is a good player, as is the Sansa Fuze.

A lot of people like them better for the price than an iPod, and the sound quality is supposed to be superior.

The Sansa Fuze's memory can be expanded with a MicroSD card.

Hmm, a bit more specifically, does anyone know perhaps any major company that uses fair trade labor ethics (preferably made in the u.s., but probably difficult to find that)? Thanks about the wal-mart deals, I refuse to shop there though.

Oh. Well. If you find something like that, it won't be a cheap product, which would take it out of the "good deals" category for many. Here's an AIDS fighting iPod: http://www.apple.com/ipod/red/ The only fair trade thing I can find is this: http://www.unitedpepper.org/ Looks like you're out of luck.

But if you buy used or reconditioned, it's not being made a second time!

Yeah you are pretty much SOL if you want fair trade electronics.

Its a cutthroat cost-cutting industry with little regard to ethics or environmental impact.

Apple is probably the best as far as making somewhat cleaner products, but beyond that its pick your poison.

You can get a Sansa Fuze 4GB for about $40 just use Google shopping to search.

I got one for my wife.

It's pretty much an iPod Nano clone with the ability to add any size SD card to it.

If you want made in the USA electronics of any kind good luck.

Unless you are buying high dollar, low volume items they almost always will be made outside the USA.

Microcenter carries a brand that is made in the US called MachSpeed but they're total garbage.

Phillips Go Gear 4gb.

Plays audio/video can be had for 50 bucks new.

21 hours.

I think I am going to get that ipod 30 gigs for 130 seems like a good deal compared to the 60 sansa that is only 8 gigs

I have heard good things about the Cowon D2 player, but have no first hand experience with it
