Vegan Fitness :: View topic - Are you a nudist?

Did you know the founders of the first nudist colonies in Germany were vegetarians? I am curious if many vegans are also nudists.

Both nudists and vegans are in tune with their bodies and nature, like to think outside the box, and like to show off their bodies. I am thinking about writing a magazine article on the subject.

I may use replies in my story thanks

Aren't you stereotyping a bit now?

Among the vegans I know there are none that claims to be "in tune with nature" and like to show off their bodies. I don't think it's a good idea to try to stereotype vegans, may it be that they are skinny and weak, or that they are nudists or whatever you might come up with.

Vegans come in all sorts and colors, and the goal for many members of this community is to make veganism more mainstream, and not marginalise it as a curiosity.

Vegan yes, nudist no. there is always time for rowing

There's no way I'd show off my body in public, I think that nakedness is a special thing between lovers and close friends - a sign that they really trust each other.

Going naked in public seems to degrade that, (but each to their own...)

I look so great in my clothes that it would be a crime for me to be a nudist.

The whole idea is too over the top for my taste.

How much sugar can you swallow before you get sick?

Vegan yes, nudist no.

But I do nude self-portraiture. OP: What evidence do you have that vegans like to show off their bodies?

Saying that vegan=nudist because some vegetarians set up the first nudist colonies is like saying that British=engineer because the internal combustion engine was invented here.

Or German=Nazi because that's where it kicked off*. Oh and to use our replies in your article without our specific permission is copyright theft. *Ooh look at me, Godwin's law in my first post

I sleep nekkid, thats about it really...

I didn't mean to put anybody into a box.

Anyway, I think the margins are lot more interesting than the mainstream. I just can think of lot instances were veganism and nudism converge, such as nude Jain monks, nudist resorts in Germany and California with vegetarian menus, etc.

I am very prudish and dont like nudism anywhere really.

Nakedness is something that makes me very uncomfortable....

Vegan yes, nudist no.

I've only ever met one vegan nudist couple in my life and they never made a big deal about it.

Interesting, but no.

I am a self confessed prude personally and cannot understand the motivation around nudism and the more extreme stuff like swinging.

I think the two (diet and bodily displays) are entirely independent.

I think the two (diet and bodily displays) are entirely independent. I don't think you move on straight from nudism to swinging!!

I've been on a few nude beeches and there is nothing sexual going on.

Just people who are comfortable with there bodies and want to feel the sun on their bits.

Most of the people are older and there is no overt exhibitionism. It was quite pleasant and swimming in the sea with nowt on was nice.

Its not something I'd go out and look for but if its there I've no hangup about it. It has nothing to do with my diet however!! Woozywinks ...

I think your previous post says it all.

" Anyway, I think the margins are lot more interesting than the mainstream." They maybe more interesting but they don't really provide evidence for a general philosohical argument. I think you are barking up the wrong tree!!!!

[Quote: ="The Duke"] Quote: : I don't think you move on straight from nudism to swinging!! I agree, but the central theme woozywinks was interested in was confidence with the naked body, and I feel that swingers probably are very confident with their nakedness.

I agree that many nudists probably would never feel happy with trivialised sexualised behaviour. You say you've been on a nudist beach and despite being a prude, I can see that it may be liberating.

Years ago I was once in a forest and wondered what it would be like to be naked among the natural beauty.

I was with one other person who'd seen it all before so gave it a try, ran about a bit, and it did feel kinda free. To be honest I wouldn't like to try a nudist beach though.

All the time I'd be (probably quite wrongly) concerned that people were assessing my body, particularly the size of my willy, hence I won't bother.

Maybe it'd be easier to find a nudist board and then ask who was vegan? It looks like a low proportion of vegans here are nudists.

Try seeing how it goes the other way around- the number of nudists that are vegan... Sounds a bit barmy but may be worth a shot

Very good, Cookie! I sunbathe naked!!!

Yes, it's true. However, I only do so in the complete privacy of my patio, which is totally unoverlooked (is that a word?), or, when I've been on a private beach with just my boyfriend of the time, or with a boyfriend on his boat when it was just us in the middle of the ocean.

No way on earth I'll be seen naked by anyone who isn't my lover, or my doctor, or my masseuse.

That's about it. Or, if someone pays me a squillion zillion gadillion pounds.

I've always wanted to have some private shots of me and a partner, though nothing would be on show - so maybe one day, I'll add a professional photographer to my list, but parading about on a nudist beach for everyone else to see, not a chance.
