Linux (server) - RedHat 6.0 - ppp dial-out

I'm running RedHat 6.0 and would like to dial from my P/C into one of our UNIX systems at work.

I have collected several sets of info on "how-to", each seems to be different.

Anyone have any info that actually works?? Also - modem has no sound or it is not dialing at all.

Don't know quite yet.

Still playing with this ppp dial-out. The number I am trying to dial supports PPP.

Is the modem a Winmodem?

If that is true then it will not work with Linux.

The How-To's recommend testing your setup with minicom before trying ppp at all. Are you getting sensible response from mincom?

My modem is a Winmodem.

I will try an external modem.

Thanks for the tip.
