Italian Masters of Horror - BLOODY-DISGUSTING

I am so excited about this and hope it pans out! Quote: : Wooooh !!

Variety has reported that the Film Commission of Turin has set up a "regional film fund" to help bankroll projects made in that region of Italy.

While that news is all well and good, the real reason to rejoice is that said group states that an Italian version of Masters of Horror will be its first project!! While there are few details, we do know that this will be a four-movie series, and that the films will be helmed by "genre veterans".

Now, seeing as how Dario Argento's already contributed to the American version, one has to wonder if he'll be invited to come play with his own countrymen, but, even if he's not, there are still some intriguing names that could come aboard.

Deodato, Lenzi, Bava (Lamberto, of course), and (please God, please) Soavi are all potential contributors. Giallo producer Luciano Martino (brother of Sergio) will be serving in his usual capacity here, amongst others, so this project's already off to a pretty cool start!!

Stay tuned!! s ource:horrorview

I am in total agreement with those picks.

Couldn't have done it any better myself.

Soavi, Deodato, Lenzi, and Bava...and hopefully Argento, of course. What about Antonio Margheriti, is he still around?

Sergio Martino would be another name to consider.

I've never cared too much for Joe D'Amato's output, at least what I've seen thusfar ('Buried Alive' and 'Grim Reaper'), so I could care less about him, although I understand he was an invaluable sourse of encouragement for Soavi when he made his first film 'Delirium' aka 'Stage Fright'.

This makes me very happy.

Antonio Margheriti died in 02 of a heart attack....to bad.

That would have been cool I know he isn't Italian but now that he had his transplant I am slamming my head against the wall DYING to see Rollin do one of these

Wow that's pretty kickass yet amazing.

I know this is on the homepage and you might have seen it but I wanted to keep this thread updated Quote: : Variety reports: Looking to revive the Italian slasher genre dear to Quentin Tarantino, state film entity Istituto Luce will co-produce and release locally an ultraviolent pic package including new works by cult vets Lamberto Bava, Umberto Lenzi and Sergio Martino. Unveiled to journos in Rome's skull-filled wax museum, the four-pic Masters of Italian Horror package is co-produced by Luce with Luciano Martino's Dania Film and the Turin Film Commission.

Luce is seeking an international sales company for the slashers, which are to be completed by June 2007. Though inspired by Showtime's Masters of Horror series, new Italo slasher slate has no links with the Showtime web.

Package instead marks a rare case of Italo product for which financing from local broadcasters has purposely not been sought. Low-budget pics will be shot digitally in Piedmont, at the foot of the Italo Alps. "For once we won't be slaves to the sugar-coated tastes of TV audiences," said Lenzi. Lenzi's credits include 1969 thriller "Orgasmo" (aka "Paranoia") featured in Venice fest retrospective "The Secret History of Italian Cinema." The 2004 retro, tubthumped by Tarantino -- who often credits Italo B-movies as inspiration -- has been instrumental in drawing attention to the Italo slasher genre, which was highly lucrative in the 1960s, '70s and '80s, before Silvio Berlusconi's Mediaset ushered in Italo commercial TV. And more info from HC Quote: : The four-picture deal has nothing to do with the U.S.

Series with which it shares the name, though that is where the inspiration comes from.

This will be a rare deal in which financing from Italinan broadcasting has not been pursued, giving the creators freedom to create the most horrific images they can come up with. The deal includes Umberto Lenzi’s Horror Baby, about a girl who becomes a serial killer after witnessing sex from her window (?);

Lamberto Bava’s Murder House, which will take place in a musician’s villa where lots of death happens;

Sergio Martino’s The Corners of the Night, about a girl who finds all sorts of nocturnal issues in her dead grandmother’s house;

And Nicola Rondolilino’s Brotherhood, about the revenge-hungry ghosts of children who were abducted for a child sex ring. Shooting on the low budget features is scheduled for a fall start at the foot of the Alps.

We’ll have more info on the series very soon so keep your eyes on Dread Central!

Quote: : "For once we won't be slaves to the sugar-coated tastes of TV audiences" sounds pretty damn nice...i assume these will go straight to dvd?

# Lenzi's "Horror Baby," about a 15-year-old paraplegic girl who becomes a serial killer after viewing sex from her window. # Lamberto Bava's "Murder House," set in a musician's villa where multiple murders occur.

Bava, son of the late horror maestro Mario Bava, is the helmer of Dario Argento-produced "Demons," among many other pics. # Sergio Martino's "The Corners of the Night," tale of a young woman who moves into her deceased grandmother's house where nocturnal mayhem ensues.

Martino's more than 60 helming credits include recently restored Barbara Bach starrer "Screamers," a cult title set on a mad Caribbean island. # Young Italo helmer Nicola Rondolino will helmhelm "Brotherhood," in which three Romanian boys abducted by a child sex ring take revenge as ghosts.
