Buying FREE web hosting business? - Web Hosting Talk

Hello, i was searching the web these days and i saw that there are few web hosting company traders.

They sell web hosting companies.

And i saw that they are selling free web hosting companies with few thousands free users for like aprox.

5000$-10.000$. Is there any way to buy and transform free to paid users?

How would you that? I understand that more than 50% will go away

By paid users, you mean by having them upgrade to a paid plan that you're offering?

Thanks. So you suggest to create a Premium web hosting package on which can users upgrade. I was talking about how to transform users from absolutely free web hosts to paid web hosting.

I mentioned the paid option simply because most people that use free hosts are under 18 and or cant afford a host.

So they would just backup there files and go somewhere else.

You can always limit the free plans features and do the paid option.

Or you can just turn the company into paid plans only but at best try to expect a 40-50% or less of the users buying

Yes understand that the many users will leave.

Thanks for answers and suggestions

I would put add's on free user's and your site's link etc.

And they have the ability to upgrade and once they do there is no add's and they will get more bandwidth and diskspace etc.

Make something interesting.

But then again if they dont have add's allready then some will leave too just for that.

Its a hard thing to try to reconfigure but if your willing to pay that much money i highly just would say buy out small hosting company's.

If one is looking for a reasonably priced web hosting technique, there is a multitude of great alternatives available.

One should be capable to find the best which has strong technical features.

If you want to create a website, you need a web host.

A web hosting server stores all important information of the website on the system and is responsible for displaying the entire information set over your website whenever the request is received.

There is also a web site hosting company involved in the entire procedure which sees running the hosting server and ensuring that the information is obtainable from your website quickly as and when needed.

Is it true the web hosting company traders they are selling web hosting companies.

From where you find this news on internet

Sure you could to it, but you won't convert many of them.

You would be lucky to be able to sell to even 10% of them. After all, they were looking for a free web host for a reason... Why not just start your own?

It is really easy to get a lot of users fast as a free web host.

Might be better off just taking that 10k and investing it in your own efforts, unless of course they give you a huge boat load of customers.

I've looked at a couple of the FREE host businesses for sale on Sitepoint from time to time.

I just don't see the profit potential.

Even if you serve ads, almost all of the sites are chinese w/a few underage english sites. I don't think you'd get any ad conversions and can just imagine how many exploitable php scripts you'd have to constantly search for and delete.

My 2 cents. People use Free Hosting because they DONT want to pay.

My estimate is more like 90%- 95% will leave.

A lot of free users are also kids or spammers.

Free Hosts usually also have to deal with a heavy flow of traffic from Asia, which will make it hard to run ads on their site as well as convert them to paid accounts, you are looking for.

Just take 5 seconds to think how the 'traders' make money from these type of deals, because I reckon they know what there doing. If there was money to be made from these 'Free Web Hosting Businesses', then wouldn't they hold on to them to make all that money for themselves ?

I'd suggest even more would leave, more like 97% - 99.999%

Be careful, it very likely is a scam.

Make sure you meet them in person and that you get a combination of personally identifiable information from them such as a copy of their drivers license, a current address, a list of other domain names that they own, name of a company that they worked at previously and a personal reference.

What ever you do, don't do it all over email - you have to meet them in person, and you have to take notes of what they tell you so that you can find inconsistencies.
