How do you see the Google results that Americans see in Google? - Web Hosting Talk
How do you see the Google results that Americans see in Google?
I am located in Canada.
But even when I go to google.com (as opposed to google.ca), when I do a search, I still see results based on my location.
How do I google something and see what an American would actually see when doing the same search?
(I'm hoping the only answer is not to do the search through a US based public proxy server as an anonymous user).

Hi vito, google uses ip, if to show serps, you can change it, by using free soft from dowload.com - "hide ip" and choose fake ip from US or some public proxy which use US ip.
Try google translate google serps too

Thanks, usproblogger.
So is using freesoft basically the same as using any of the sites out there that offer free proxy servers?
Is there a benefit of one over the other?
Perhaps safer? More private?

Software is probably easier.

This question is being asked here for a design client of mine.
Given that he lives in Canada but his target market is US, it would help to actually see the Google results that his target market sees.

I was told to add the codes "&gl=us" at the end of the url to get the results.
Example:I searched "host" in google.com and get the url as Quote: : http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&s...=f&oq=&aqi=g10 And then add the codes to it
Quote: : http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&s...&aqi=g10&gl=us Press refresh.
But seems not working with the Sponsored Links on the right side of google.com

Yes. You can add "&gl=us" to see the results in US.

Usually I just click the link at the bottom on Google.co.uk saying: Go to google.com

Cool. That works!
Thank you.

Use a VPN connection from US to simulate the results.

or you could just type in 'Google.com international' into the search bar

So far, I think that best way to go is to use a different ip to get a more accurate result.
