Credit Score Question - Web Hosting Talk - The largest, most influential web hosting community on the Internet

Does carrying a balance on a 0% APR card affect your credit score?

Carrying a balance in relation to your overall credit limit is what can affect your score. Add up the credit limits of all your cards.

Then add up the balances of all your cards.

If the balance is at or under 30% of your total credit limit then it's not going to be an issue.

Above 30% and it can have an affect. I'm not too aware of the recent changes to credit reporting, so this may have changed.

Rob is correct. Thus a balance on a 0% card can still penalize you. Quick fact: Your credit report does not report your interest rates.

It only shows the balances, types of credit (resolving versus installment), the date the credit was obtained, payment history, and other such information. -mike

Thanks guys.
