What will need me to start web hosting business(especially about hardware) - Web Hosting Talk - The largest, most influential web hosting community on the Internet

Hello everybody, Now I plan to start web hosting business.

I know it very little.

So I am suffering what should i do. I don't know what hardwares need me to web hosting. So I was trying to collect information about web hosting business in internet.

Then I found this site and I am very happy to this. Please, advice me what kind of hardware and software need at least.

And how can I buy it. Now I think maybe I need dedicated server and control panel software.

What about else? I am grateful if you comment this post. Please, help me.

I hope you will write. Have a nice day. And enjoy your life because of it's short

Are you actually able to provide support?

Your clients would like to have an owner that knows stuff for when something goes wrong...

Are you sure this is the right business for you?

Maybe there's something you're already adept at?

Do you have a market that you can easily reach and where you're facing limited competition?

Being everything for everybody isn't really the way to go these days when it comes to hosting.

Competition can be pretty fierce. In any case, unless you have reason to believe that your business will grow very fast, I'd say you should start with a reseller account.

Play around with it, learn all that it can do.

If you go for a dedicated server, it looks like you need a fully managed one.

Most hosts start out with a Reseller Account, you should to.

Thank you. In my country web hosting service is comparatively new business.

There are not so many web hosting company. And my boss offer me to research about web hosting business. We are planning to do this business together. Eventhought now I know very little about this thing, I am sure to do by mybest to know it. I will interest about reseller account. thank you.

Do you have any technical knowledge with managing Windows and/or Linux platforms and operating systems? What about control panels like cPanel and Plesk? These are pretty much the basic fundamentals.

Look at the running a web hosting business tutorials section (child board of this one).

However, personally, I would recommend you not start the business yet.

Maybe get a reseller and practice with the control panel until you are very good at it.

Then start offering shared packages after you are more adept with the control panel of your choice. This market is too saturated for someone with little to no knowledge of the subject.

Research for a few months and practice.

You'll have to be able to support your clients.

I'm curious what your motivation is to start a web hosting business, given your knowledge of the industry.

I do wish you the best of success though.

You will need: software: Linux CentOS 5 with cPanel hardware: you have two options either A dedicated server.

I would start with a dual core server with a RAID-1 configuration and either 2GB of RAM or more. A virtual server.

This is a cheaper alternative and is worth pursuing as well.

Server management and support.

From what you've described, this is a must. Happy reading. Best

Going by what you have said, i would strongly urge you not to start hosting.

If you do you will only end up causing problems for yourself and any clients you get. think about it and maybe look for another business that you can get into

Some people are good at bridging with people that need hosting.

Others are well versed with managing infrastructure. Regards

Thank you very much everybody especially UNIXy, that what i want. Your suggestions are really need me.

Of course I will learn and practice about it. Thank you and hope stay with me

You can also think about a reseller that offers end user support meaning that you can pass on any client problems to the person that you get hosting from.

Inno hosting is well known and they offer this so you should take a look at that

Regards I dont doubt that with the right support the OP can make a go of it, im just concerned for any clients he picks up along the road before he gets it right, and how many people MAY (im not saying will)end up getting burned and then come on palces like this and basically ruin his business on him.

Hosting is a cut-throat business which has saw me put in many days of work without sleep, I just think that people should know exactly what they are getting into before they start hosting
