mp3 player for the non-tech person? - Web Hosting Talk

Mp3 player for the non-tech person?

Do anybody know what kind of cheap easy to use mp3 players i can buy for my mom?

Who is not very good at using any kind of electronic gizmos

I couldn't really tell you a specific one as there are many out like this one the easiest to use from what i've seen have been those the usb flash drive mp3 players, they have about 6-7 simple buttons (play, stop, next, power, volume ect...) and there is no software needed for transferring music just plug the usb end of the player into your pc and the players music folder will pop up simply drag your mp3 files into there and your set.

I got one for my mom as well who is not very tech savy and she loves it They run cheap maybe $30-60, some have screens and some don't it's your choice the screens only say the name of the song, the volume and that's about it.

Id say any of those really cheap ones that just plug in the usb.

They seem to be the least complicated for the non-savvy.

I don't see why an iPod Shuffle would be a problem?

It's fairly straight-forward as long as you're able to teach her the basics of iTunes or some other alternative playlist manager....

I'd say go for the iPod shuffle.

They're relativley cheap and very easy to use - no screen or anything

Two ways you can go on this one Any MP3 player that just works as a mass storage device seems on the surface easier, but it depends on if she'd be comfortable finding where on her computer her music is, and then dragging it to said device.

Some people are utterly defeated by this while others find it easier. Conversely you can go with one of apple's offerings (the shuffle is a good call) as the itunes interface seems like a more friendly thing to learn, and would suit her well, even if the program has some shortcomings.

That said it's a good central location for her to turn her music into MP3s from CDs.

Hmm, stay away from Sony's stuff unless you want to be held back by SonicStage.

Thankfully there's a java applet allowing you to use your walkman without SonicStage, but it seems to be in a non-working state.

(Works alright with my NW-E005F, though.) I'd second anything that is drag+drop, no need for stupid programs.

And try not to get something too small or too big;

I don't know about you but I'd lose it if it's too small, break it if it's too big.

So I guess that rules out screens, too... Oh, another reason not to get the walkman: For some reason dusty/n'crap slid into the case...

Now I think I need to open it and clean it from the inside.

Look on dabs.com Pretty good prices.

Ya, I would also suggest iPod Shuffle, just teach her how to use iTunes or go two steps further, just transfer the songs for her and she'll be ready to use it

IPod Shuffle is probably the easiest SuperBytes ~ US/UK/CA OpenVZ VPS and VPS Reseller Hosting Fanatical Host ~ US Shared and Reseller Hosting Matthew Hall ~ Kerplunc Hosting ~ matt[at]kerplunc.com

An mp3 player (which is also cheaper than the iPod shuffle) which works as a flash drive for easy transfer of songs.

A simple plug-n-play usb mp3 player would be best.

Then just show her how to drag and drop and you're set.

Just load it up with some of her favorite music and she'd be all set.

I'd say to go with an iPod shuffle for simplicity.

For ease of use however, don't rule out an iTouch.

The touch screen menus are easier to navigate than most people will tell you. The only hard part about it's use would be figuring out iTunes I suppose.

Ipod Touch best thing you can buy.

Its easy to use though if your cheap and you do not want to fork up 200$ buy an ipod shuffle(80$) or if you are really cheap to the max: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...958&CatId=2761 (refurbished) or (brandnew http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...975&CatId=2476 if you live in the usa change ca to com to view the American store.
