Romantic Princess (公主小妹) Gong Zhu Xiao Mei, previously known as, Wo Jia Gong Zhu (我家公主), is a Taiwanese drama that aired from September 16 2007, and ended on December 9 2007, airing every Sunday night from 10pm to 11pm..
The drama features Wu Zun and Calvin Chen of Fahrenheit, and Angela Chang.
The production is based on the shoujo manga Romance Godan Katsuyou (ろまんす五段活用), by Kazuko Fujita (藤田和子).
It comprises of 13 episodes, and is a mix of romance and comedy.

Synopsis
Adopted by middle classed parents, Xiao Mai has always had a dream to be an heiress.

Just watched Ep 13 and it was a super sweet final ep.!!
Grandpa was awesome!!
The entire cast did a really good job acting out the characters.
I especially loved the relationship between Jin and XM ...
XM was super mature and supportative of Jin's dream of living on his own without Emp helping him while Jin was specially expressive towards his feelings about XM!!
He even asks if she would ...
WOW!! he finally became brave enough to show his in-depth feelings towards her!!
That's how love should be ...
Anyways, here is a special moment btw XM and Jin.

Since it's the first page, I'm gonna upload the plot summary and character translations for this drama for people who are just starting to watch this drama!
Plot Summary (in chinese)
Hidden Text: 十八岁的女大学生麦秋穗(张韶涵 饰)从小就在一个气氛和乐的温暖家庭中长大，虽然家境并不是太富裕，住的也只是破旧的小公寓，但是小麦却觉得很幸福。
然而没想到，小麦不过一觉醒来，竟然有一大票神秘的黑衣人出现在她家的小公寓中，宣称她真正的身分是国内首富皇甫集团董事长皇甫雄(顾宝明 饰)失踪多年的孙女，而麦父(卜学亮 饰)和麦母(黄嘉千 饰)也承认小麦并非他们的亲生女儿，而是他们花钱向人口贩子买来的弃婴。

Plot Summary (in english)
Hidden Text: 18 year old student Mai Qiu Hui (Angela Zhang) comes from a very warm and happy home.
Although her family is not rich and they live in a small and old public flat, Xiao Mai has always felt very fortunate in life.
However, unexpectedly one morning, XM awoke to find some mysterious people dressed in black in her home.
They inform her that her real identity is that she is the long lost granddaughter of the richest man in Asia and the Head of the Huangfu empire, Huangfu Xiong.
Her parents also admit that she is not their real daughter and that they had bought her as an abandoned baby from a child selling syndicate.
Under the tyrannical control of her grandfather, XM is forced to leave her home and move into Huangfu palace.
The life of a rich girl proves to be less wonderful than XM had dreamt.
From the first day she moved in, XM was mistaken to be a gold digger and she started a feud with the boy most likely to be EMPs heir, Nanfeng Jin.
The two of them often squabble and cannot get along at all.
However, EMP is eager to matchmake them and creates all kinds of opportunities for them to be alone together.
EMP even appoints Jin to teach XM etiquette and the waltz so that she would not make a fool of herself at her Debutante Ball.
Nanfeng Jin has only two weeks to get XM ready for her introduction into High society and so he uses his own experience of learning how to cope to teach XM.
He is very strict with her and XM suffers terribly.
Because of the many misunderstandings between them, XM mistakes Jins attempts at teaching her to be attempts to humiliate her.
Many times, XM thinks of running away and going back to her foster parents.
However, because her father works for the Huangfu empire, no matter how unwilling she is and for the sake of her parents, she forces herself to return to the Huangfu family.
XM and Jins love-hate relationship starts to develop through a string of unexpected and interesting events.

Hidden Text: 18 years old, cheerful and optimistic, vibrant and energetic, kind hearted, gentle, can be persuaded but not forced, loves to fight for the underdog and because of this was given the nickname of heroine in school.
Her nickname also suggests that she is stubborn and once she has a goal in mind, she will never give up until the very end.
She can be intelligent but very often her intelligence gets her into trouble.
She grew up in an ordinary family and never knew she was adopted.
Never in her wildest dreams did she ever expect that her real identity is Huangfu Shan.
Under the arrangement of her grandfather, XM moves into the Huangfu palace but she misses her foster parents and finds it difficult to adjust to her new status and lifestyle.
Hence, she often thinks of leaving her new home.
The first time she met Jin, they quarreled.
Since then, due to several misunderstandings, the distance between them widened.
XM thinks of Jin as an intelligent but rude and snobbish rich boy.
However, due to an unexpected chance discovery, XM realized that beneath Jins cold and haughty exterior is a warm and considerate person.
Slowly and without knowing it, she falls in love with him and uses all her strength to help Jin to get out from under EMPs control.

Nanfeng Jin
Hidden Text: 21 years old, calm and serious, does not reveal his feelings easily, he projects the image of a cold and unfeeling rich man but he is actually a gentle and considerate person who loves to protect his brother.
Jin has encountered many greedy and money minded people who behave hypocritically.
Jin therefore keeps a distance from most people and protects himself by treating everyone with caution.
Because of this, XMs innocent and straightforward character, plus her unpretentiousness greatly attracts him.
Jins parents and XMs parents are old friends.
The 4 of them died in a car crash when Jin was only 8 years old.
After EMP lost his only son, he adopted Jin and his brother as a result of their parents relationship with his son and daughter in law.
EMPs purpose is to raise an heir for his empire.
Jin accepts the difficult and arduous training as heir to protect his brother and to repay EMP for his generosity in bringing up Lin and himself.
Although Jin lives up to EMPs expectations of his heir, his deepest wish is to leave the protective environment of the Huangfu family and use his own talents to achieve success in life.
Jin has been secretly planning how to leave the Huangfu empire but his plans are derailed after he falls in love with XM.

Huangfu Xiong - EMP
Hidden Text: 73 years old, Chairman of the Huangfu Empire, stubborn, opinionated, very cunning, outwardly he looks impressive and intimidating, difficult to get close to but in reality, he can be like a child, willful and playful.
Ever since his only son died, he has been extremely lonely.
Hence, when he finds his long lost granddaughter, he uses all kinds of methods, even ruthless means, to bind XM to him resulting in her dislike and animosity towards him.
After the death of his only son, EMP searches for a suitable heir among the members of the extended family.
He picks 4 of the most promising candidates and brings them up in order to put them through the vigorous training needed for his heir.
Among the 4, EMP is most satisfied with Jin who is serious, responsible and outstanding in his accomplishments.
EMPs dearest wish is to matchmake Jin and XM, not realizing that his actions would produce the opposite effect.

Hidden Text: 21 years old, well known playboy, promiscuous, not interested in studies, trouble maker (enjoys stirring trouble) But in reality, his abilities are as good as Jins.
Because he does not want to become EMPs heir, he projects an image of a wastrel.
In the end, as a result of XMs actions, she succeeds in making him reveal his true self.
Cai has no intention of competing with Jin to be EMPs heir.
His only wish is to enjoy his life of ease.
However, in the end, he falls in love with the only daughter of the Gong business empire and is faced with the problem of becoming the heir of 2 big business empires.

NanFeng Lin
Hidden Text: 18 years old, Jins younger brother, he has always been protected by his brother and so his character is innocent, straightforward, naïve and romantic.
His actions very often make people both laugh and cry at the same time.
Lins feelings for XM are a result of the memories he has of the love and attention he received from XMs mother.
Although he was very young, he can still remember XMs mothers smile and hence he is captivated by XMs smile from the very first moment he saw her.

Hidden Text: 18 years old, Cais younger brother, he is shy and introverted.
He actually can be quite manipulative.

But once he witnesses her sacrifice for Jin, his opinion of her changes for the better.

I loved this show but the ending was too shorttt!!!

Not as much as i expected but all the same wu zun and angela had a great kiss!!!

Yes ... I do agree with sakurasan that the ending was too shorttt!!!
In my opinion the director should have not dragged the plot in earlier episodes but keep the elaboration of the plot in the last 2 episodes then at least the ending would have been wrapped up with finer details, like Xiao Mai returning from the States after the 3 years' drilling as a CEO and Jin becoming a successful business entrepreneur
Well ....
To sum up the drama is enjoyable and has its share of merits admist some flaws.
The plot and cast sure hold the audience appeal, otherwise the drama would not have been at the top of the ratings weekly despite the competition from the other dramas.
I gonna miss the chemistry of this awesome couple (Wu Zun & Angela) and look forward to their collaboration again soon.

I find the ending to be sweet though.
Before watching eps.
13 I thought it would suck since XM will be leaving and I thought the series will end when she is on the airplane already.
But it ended by XM and Jin hugging each other and kissing.
At least Jin made it to say goodbye to her and XM knows that he kept his promise.
Yea...the ending was somewhat short but it was a happy ending.
This was the important thing.

And you see Cai a bit more loveydovey towards Mo Li which you rarely see him do since he's like a player...I love Cai and Mo Li a lot esp the part when Hidden Text: she thought he was gonna kiss her, but hugged her instead in ep 12...and promised to cherish her

And the last kiss was the most passionate although my favourite kiss is still the first kiss in Ep7.
I wished they'd ended with a wedding or even with Jin giving XM a ring at least!
3 years is a long time and anything could happen!
I think what I will always remember about this series is:
The Waltz - I never thought the waltz could be so romantic until I saw Jin lifting XM and spinning her around - think it's just lovely
The Lucky Kiss - Heheh!
I love how the director made something so ordinary so romantic!
Their nicknames - 'Xiao Qi Gong Zhu' and 'Shuai Qi Gong Tou'
Ep 7 and it's 3 kisses - still my favourite episode of the drama!
The hugs - I Love the hugs more than the kisses!
last but not least - the chemistry between Chun and Angela in the drama - made the drama really special for me!

I finished up to episode 6 at crunchyroll and want to see epi 7 but youtube dont seem to have subs and mabye veoh but yeah, since crunchyroll stops at epi 6.

I actually sort of think they're leaving room for a sequel.
Because they can go anywhere with the storyline after 3 years when she comes back.
E.g. One of them gets amnesia *cough*MeteorGarden*cough*, something goes wrong at the wedding, etc.
Etc.
I was kind of disappointed with the ending, wasn't much going on...I wish they had kept it at 10 episodes, but that's just me.

The ending is perfect to make a sequel.
Like you, I found the last episodes quite draggy but I think ep.13 is quite ok.
At least it was a happy ending!
But if ever they're goin to make a sequel, then I think RP1 would be more exciting cos I actually enjoyed those "courting scenes" , those "cute bickering scenes" & when they first start to develop feelings for each other.
I mean if they're a couple, you just don't get to see that anymore.

i think episode 13 is quite sweet and cute but i do not see the need to put episode 13.
The last episode is all about their perfect and happy ending.
I like the pairing of calvin and genie, they are really sweet and compatible.
Of course, angela and wuzun inside are really cutez, especially when they kiss in the end!

heheh, I too feel that the first part of a relationship is more interesting than the second because it's more exciting to watch how the love grows.
Then again TKA has a very interesting plot too and it's about XiangQin and Zhishu's married life.
For RP 2, if they focus on what has not been explored in Jin & XM's relationship, maybe the plot won't be so boring like <involving amnesia and a third party>.
Maybe if RP focuss on XM's business skills and Jin's reaction to his wife having a successful career - plus of course married life, it won't be so bad.
I'm just guessing!

Angela is one of the rare singer/actresses in Mandopop who as made a name for herself in both fields.
As a singer, she has released five studio albums, the latest being Ang 5.0, and is lauded for her astounding vocals.
As an actress, she has played a gamut of roles, from a poor high school student in love with the rich kid(MVP Valentine), a singer wannabe(Dolphin Bay), a pair of schizophrenic twins(Bump off Lover) and now a girl living out a Cinderella dream in the latest Romantic Princess.
We spoke to Angela to find out what it's like to be a princess, which prince Angela would pick to be her boyfriend and all about her latest album, Ang 5.0.
teens: Hi Angela!
Tell us more about your new album, Ang 5.0!
Angela: This album will actually be totally different from my previous albums.
It's called Ang5.0 because I want it to be like a computer upgrade, because on the path of being a singer, I'v one through different albums and types of music, so my hope right now is to give everyone a totally different "feel" of who I am, both in my music and my image.
I hope that everyone will have a refreshing feeling when they look at me and hear my songs.
Musically, I've worked with a lot of new people, like Fan Fan, Tanya Chua, Jay Chou and other renowned producers, which has helped me expand my music repertoire.
Our collaborations have produced both slow and fast tunes like I've never sung before.
You've also made a big change to your image-you chopped off your precious long locks!
Yes, I did!
Well, it's basically because we wanted a totally different feel on this album, both musically and in my styling.
The hair, clothes,image on this album...it's something I've never tried before.
I've kept my hair for many, many years, and I could never bear to cut it.
But this time, I just snipped it off at one go.
Was it heartbreaking?
Yes, of course!
It took me a while to get used to it, because it's really very short!
Your latest drama Romantic Princess, has been a huge success and has scored top ratings from the very first episode.
Tell us more about your role in the drama.
I play Xiao Mai, a girl who likes to daydream, and just like every other teenage girl, she dreams that becoming a princess and buying a castle.
What she never expected is that one day her daydreams would actually really come true.
How similiar are you to your on-screen character in Romantic Princess?
(Thinks) Well, I think that the "never-give-up" attitude is something I share with Xiao Mai.
I'm always raring to go nd ready to put my best foot forward, which is pretty much like her.
What was the toughest scene you had to shoot?
(thinks) The funny scenes were actually pretty hard to film!
There were quite a few of them, and catching the comedic tempo during those scenes was more difficult.
You should watch the blooper reels for the show-they are so hilarious!

One of the highlights in the drama is the amazing set and props-expensive cars, huge houses, pretty dresses, etc.
Did you really feel like a princess during filming?
Yes I did!
With all the expensive sports cars and the big houses we filmed in, I really felt like a princess!
There's a catch though-there was really no way I could truly enjoy being a princess because we were filming in really hot weather.
(Thinks) But in all honesty, I might not trulyenjoy such a life if I had to live it in reality.
I believe that money can't always buy you happiness.
If you had the kind of money that Huangfu Shan had in Romantic Princess, what do you think your life would be like?
It's hard to imagine, because she's really filthy rich!
In terms of material needs,(pauses) I doubt I would shop till I dropped every day.
I do love shopping, but doing every single day would be..just too much.
What's the most expensive thing you've ever splurged on?
I've never really splurged on a very expensive item, becuse I'm quite a practical person.
I usually only buy things if I really needed them.
Hmm...I guess the most expensive thing I've ever bought would be a house, because it's something practical, something I need.
The houses I've bought are for my family and me to live in.
In the show, you had to deal with four new guys in your life-the hardworking Jin, playboy Cai, playful Ling and mysterious Yin.
In reality, which of these screen characters would you pick to be your boyfriend?
(Thinks hard) In real life, I'll pick someone like Jin(Wu Zun), because I can get a sense of security from such a person.
The press love to speculate about your friendships with male co-stars(Yan Xingshu in MVP Valentine and Wu Zun in Romantic Princess).
Do you worry that this takes attention away from the drama?
I haven't worried about the effect the rumours have had on Romantic Princes, because the show has been airing for a period of time, and the ratings have always been pretty good.
But even in the future, I'm really not too worried either.
(Confidently) I believe that most people are smarter than to believe such unfounded rumours.
Why doyou think most artistes are wary of revealing their love life to the press?
Everybody's personality is different, so I can't speak for everyone else.
There are high-profile personalities who are more than happy to tell the world that they're in love or in a relationship, and there are some who would prefer to keep it quiet...like me.
I wouldn't announce it.
Why?
Because you want to protect your partner?
(incredulously) Me protect him?
Shouldn't it be the other way round?
Ha ha ha! I just feel that the whole world doesn't have to know everything about my life.
You've been very successful both as an actress and a singer.
But would you rather be remembered as the actress who sings, or the singer who acts?
I'd like to be remembered both ways, actually.
I'm learning how to be good at both these things.
But if you asked me, I think I'm better at singing, because I've been doing it for a longer time than I have acting.
The year 2007 os coming to a close...what are the three best memories you will keep of 2007?
It would definitely be the concerts that I've held this year, and my "world" tour.
It's always been my dream to hold personal concerts, and I have finally done it in 2007!
What are you looking forward to in the upcoming year?
I just hope to put in 100% into each and every one of my projects, and for even more projects overseas to thank my fans for their support.
Of course, I'm hoping to visit Singapore again soon...

Honestly....wu chun improves...he really does improved with his acting skills the roles had somehow become him and him being the roles why for angela i had a different say...she is great but there are times....when she a little....over ....no insults meant but she is still great though she is really too skinny making her looking a little bit haggard i love her when she was in MVP Lover & Dolphin Lover (did i get the title right sorry it been a long times) when she was in these 2 she was really pretty but in this 'Romantic Princess' i'm sorry but to say that she spoil the shows for me

hi there!
Do you mean to say Angela spoils Romantic Princess for you just because she looks haggard and skinny in it or there are some other reasons?
In my opinion, for those "over" scenes in Romantic Princess, she acted so simply because they were meant to be "over' to create the comedic effect, you see.
And yes, Wu Zun did improve, and I agree with you that he can play the character quite well, perhaps because in real life he had similiar experiences to those of Jin.
