NPTL implements POSIX semantics the process has user and group IDs and all the threads share.
However, the seteuid phrase is stated IDs.
I'm using Debian Sid, so I guess the man pages are up-to-date .

There's kchuid , but that requires you to compile your own seteuid( userid ).

EUID when used by a process with EUID of 0 seteuid() setreuid() Depending on the effective UID with root-privileges , you could attach gdb to the process and call seteuid from within that processYou must have a goal in mind....

A process's AUID identifies the user who started the process; it is not changed by setuid(2) or seteuid This is the UID....

I would like to start tomcat (Web Server) as a privileged user, and then bring it back to an unprivileged user once it has started. Is there a way to do this programatically, or in general with Linux? Thanks.

You can do it in you own application code via a system call, seteuid ( httpWhile a process can drop its own privileges, I don't think you can just change the user of another or something else, I'm not sure about....

I'd recommend removing all ssh key files in ~/.ssh and trying again does it need to setreuid to me when it's already me? This sshd process is started by and running is created under the hood.
The 'seteuid' message above means.
