I hear the farang bar owners pay the mib for "protection".
But do thai bar owners do the same? And do all other businesses pay as well. Such as salons, hotels etc?

It is a big old fuss, if you ask me as importing household or personal property but subject to import duty - based on VN customs valuation.
With Temporary Residence Cards, are only allowed one property each.
