Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone has fixed PSU's before. I have a HX850. It powers up for like 3-5 seconds then cuts out. Does anyone know what can cause that? I've been looking up troublshooting online and cant seem to find this particular case. The PSU...

No other cables i didnt put enough load on the PSU? No that should....
I tested the PSU by only hooking up the 24pin and 4pin to Motherboard.
I second this
Switchmode PSU's are still notoriously hard to fault find supply.
Or bin it.

If it's 9V AC there's no polarity a different psu port You should be fine..
Just solder.
You will need to do the same on the PSU though.

I picked up Olevia LT42HVI 42" LCD TV.
When opened it up, I found blown fuse.
Changed it.
Once plugged to AC fuse instantly blew, thats when i knew PSU shorted out.

I've picked up a G4 Quicksilver (v1, 2001) with a bust power supply.
Naturally it doesn't boot but the PSU does making a soft
ticking/crackling sound as soon as it's powered.

I am trying to repair the wife's IMAC 24 PSU.
I found five bad caps
680UF 16v LXY 10mm x 12mm
1000UF 16v LXY 10mm x 17mm
1500UF 16v LXY 12.5mm x 17mm
Would it be OK to replace with these available from Bad Caps or would there be better choices?
