What's with the hostility to psychology here?
The stuff I have done involves two types of experiments. One involves randomly assigning subjects to different groups, which are then exposed to different levels of an independent variable. The other involves exposing each subject to all levels of the independent variable in such a way as to control for order effects. Psychology and Sociology. source
What Can I Do With Masters In Psychology?
I have been licensed as a masters-level clinician for quite a few years now. I am in private practice, and it is thriving and full. I don't accept insurance, and my clients pay out-of-pocket. If you have the motivation and the energy, you can absolutely practice with a masters degree. AQA A2 Psychology. source
Deviant psychology books?
I'm interested in suggestions for books on psychology, particularly deviant psychology. I'm not taking a degree, and I don't have access to an academic library, but I am looking for fairly academic works. Psychology at ABB. source
Getting into PsyD with no psychology coursework?
I think I'm pretty much in agreement with everyone else here. Most programs I've looked at require 18 hours of coursework in psychology with stats, abnormal psych, and developmental psych being part of those hours. I'd think your best shot would be to take 6 in-person psych courses over one or two semesters, then take the GRE Psych test, and then apply. Having an interest in psychology is one thing, but having enough of an interest to devote 4-6 years to studying it is another, and an interviewer is going to want to see that you're committed. If you do that then I think your chances of acceptance would be pretty good. Several programs really want people who have changed careers, and a few offer scholarships for people who have decided to do so. Psychology in September. source
Careers with a Masters in psychology?
Joe, my wife is a psych major, her courses seem really easy, and i think she would agree. She is bi-polar and can manage to handle them, i think she even takes the same meds as you, limictal, seroquel and lithium. She wants to do a PHD program and if that ends up being too much of a trek she has thought about social work. Her eventual goal is to be a therapist, which can be done as a social worker, masters or phd depending on how you go about it. Manchester for Psychology educational psychology, geography and maths, i'm applying for 2010, psychology at leeds, psychology of religion, counselling psychology, evolutionary psychology, i'm at lincoln, neuro psychology, hostility to psychology pickyness' of women. source
