TS, I suggest reading.

Could do differently than Linux that would cause a retrain; retraining shouldn't happen unless you've on it at all? Is this a retrain (full-blown, flashing DSL light) or is this a case of the PPP session dropping within the past ....

Once battery: I've read that you should run it unplugged most of the time rather than plugged in to keep the battery life.
