The fonts work fine if I change my system locale to Japan .
Try delete font cache and restart your computer:
c:\Windows\System32\FNTCACHE.DAT I think I've solved the problem.. .

Can I have Regional settings USA and still have external greek subtitles in srt format NOT appearing gibberish?
For example, VLC does not have this problem.

The downloaded subtitle looks the same hand, do you mean that no subtitle appears at all, or that subtitle appear, but are displayed wrong where the upload rules....
With one of the downloaded subtitles in VLC and ShowTime.

Hey guys! I recently bought Immortals BD in 1080p (yayyy ) and ripped it so I can have it in my laptop. I downloaded greek subtitles from a well known site... The subs are nicely synchronized, but I can't read them!! They are some sort of weird letters...

Try installing the free VLC program and play with the subtitle settings if necessary as it MIGHT has posted, I'll try to remember to post my general suggestions for dealing with subtitles windows 7, I already have VLC....

Ok, so struggling to play a 1.4GB .mkv video file without it skipping and the audio going out of sync. I have tried:
Media players: VLC, Totem and mplayer2 via smplayer. Booting into my Windows XP partition. No luck with WMP or VLC 2.0.1

Any iPad owners out there able to confirm if VLC for iPad can play .rec files and if there are any issues? I've seen mentioned that the iPad version can play most, but not all, of the desktop versions, but can't find an exhaustive list.

App Store site says you have to rename to .avi, which allows VLC to then see the file you've not to have to re-encode! The....
To rename to .avi, which allows VLC to then see the file you've transferred to the iPad, but it can't play yet...
