I was very pleased to notice vlc 1.5.1 can convert dvd subtitles into dvb subtitles. This is good news for my networked (and nas connected) satelite receiver/pvr which isn't very good at (native) dvd subtitles. Converting my dvd's with subtitle overlay...

You are bitmaps and therefor ....
Above - do you remember? In it you said that you are able to use VLC to convert DVD to DVB subtitles; obviously you cannot convert bitmaps to text (unless you have an OCR, which VLC does not).

I think I remember mplayer? Mplayer works perfectly fine for me.
I'm having a hard time thinking of any time VLC has failed me.
I primarily use MPC.

I've just updated to VLC 2.0.0 (from VLC 1.1.11). I'm running Windows 7 Professional SP1 X64 on an i7 2600, 8GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti and I don't remember what motherboard. I'm using the onboard sound card. I'm regularly updating things...

Can I have Regional settings USA and still have external greek subtitles in srt format NOT appearing gibberish?
For example, VLC does not have this problem.

The downloaded subtitle looks the same hand, do you mean that no subtitle appears at all, or that subtitle appear, but are displayed wrong where the upload rules....
With one of the downloaded subtitles in VLC and ShowTime.

Im really really sorry if this has been posted before, but I felt like I did a pretty decent search on this forum looking for a good solution to converting Bluray to Apple TV with forced subtitles on a Mac and didn't find anything. I loved the automation...

De-select the original....
(If there is no track available, you will likely need to select the whole subtitle in Step 1, then add the IDX file.
2: Extract the subtitle track out of the rip using MKVtools (this option is found under the EDIT tab).

It may be some time before 64 bit computing is mainstream, but it would be awsome to have a version of VLC that runs in the 64 bit environment. I am happy that it supports the 32bit emulator on winXP x64, but transcoding could go faster with full x64 ...

Your choices would be MPC-HC, VLC, or KMPLAYER an unlimited number of video, audio, picture....
It makes nice for a small portable player.
MORE thumb drive.
Heh, VLC is now on back burner for me.
Primary player/pack and KMPlayer is my secondary.
