This comforter is phenomenal for the price. In fact, I wouldn't even pay more to get a "higher quality" comforter. It is super, super, super warm. I live in Chicago where it is below freezing for most of the winter, and I often get too hot with the comforter...

Did not smell - but the fabric is noisy - it crinkles. After a few washing the crinkles calm down. Keeps us warm - so the long and short of it is worth what you paid.
