Newspaper reading porter in the 1900s?
If I recall correctly, the first education acts were passed in the 1870's or 1880's, so by 1900 most people would have had some schooling, and was one of the reasons for the explosion in newspaper circulation at this time. Bear in mind that, although a manual job, that of a railway porter would have needed some literacy, dealing with paperwork, destination labels etc.

Garden Railway high or low?
Because of the number of references, both here and in the model press, to modellers using Peco track outside with success over a good number of years, I have no reason to doubt the suitability of this makers track. That said, I will play safe and use the stronger Code 100. It is unlikely any points will be outside unless I insert Delph Junction. Must admit that soldering 'miles' of track for outdoors has no appeal I spend my working days soldering and I wanna relax on rest days...

Where to go in London?
There's a little market shop by Bond Street Tube station - out of the main entrance onto the street, turn right and right again and you'll see a market stall area, walk a bit further to the second one, go downstairs and it's by a load of ornamental fountains and things. Mainly old stuff and collectors items, open weekdays and saturdays after midday-ish.

MAG Logo?
Before we do I'd like to try and define a uniform size for AG logos. I'm OK with the scaled down SWAG and SAG ones I've seen around. I'm just concerned about swamping the boards with sig pics making it difficult to read.

MRJ Manning Wardle F scratchbuild project?
The Manning Wardle for the MRJ Project was an outside cylinder 0-4-0ST and as far as I know only the castings were made for the project, and it never appeared as a complete kit. There was a kit for this loco in Mr Chivers range, but, I would think, primarily in white metal, rather than brass, except for the chassis, and I keep intending to get hold of one, but so far haven't got my act together on it.
