(From a C# perspective) The rope data structure values (think 100+ MB of xml....
They work differently, so they are more suited for different purposes .

I also have the ropes instock.
It has a beveled edge to keep the rope from wearing as fast.
I think mine will still be good long after I'm of the mount .

Copy-on-write (I think this comes for free in nearly all std::string implementations... .
It will do the string interning, but I don't believe it does copy-on-write .
If most of your strings are immutable, the Boost Flyweight library might suit your needs .

Late 27th series can....
Nothing unusual to look for other than the elimination without dust cover grooves had rope holes, 12th series same thing but only had buttplates with 2 nails instead of 3.
Nagoya, TJK, and Howa used rope hole stocks.

The forklift driver doesn't have to get off....
Rope pull switches are still standard fare for door openers between sections of factories.
That's what you use when cool.
Pull the other to turn the light on/off.
Pull 1 rope to ring the bell.
