My iPhone app rotates fine in the simulator but when I deploy it on a physical device, rotating is very very sensitive. How can I fix this issue and make sure the screen rotates only when a 90 degree angle is made?

I would recommend manually monitoring the accelerometer....
I assume you couldn't use the built-in autorotate callbacks for your requirements but have to build your own view rotation or alternate views that are controlled by readings from the accelerometer.

I have 12 views which I rotate almost similar to the icons in the home screen when going into homescreen-customization-mode by touching an icon for a few seconds.
I use a 3D transformation code to do the rotations. They have each a duration of just 0....

How big on screen are the images?
CALayer rotations are hardware.
Help to improve performance.

I have a 3D point in cartesian coordinates, how can I get the euler rotation angles of it based on its distance from 0,0,0?

Be aware that Euler angles can be ambiguous: Rich's answer assumes the rotations are applied to Z.

On a scale of 1-10, how infuriating are Mike Brown's rotations?

Mike....
These are the most random rotations i ever seen
its like he just throws guys out of gelling time, but his rotations...starting Fish and Metta, benching Glock and Ebanks despite vastly with balls, and we got Potato Head.
To begin with.

I'm implementing a simple camera system in OpenGL. I set up gluPerspective under the projection matrix and then use gluLookAt on the ModelView matrix. After this I have my main render loop which checks for keyboard events and, if any of the arrow keys...

I think you first have to translate your camera to... .
Swap your rotate and translate calls around :)
Since they post-multiply the matrix stack the last the be called is the 'first' to be applied conceptually, if you care about that sort of thing.

Hopefully easy answer, but I cannot get it.
I have a 3D render engine I have written.
I have the camera position, the lookat position and the up vector.
I want to be able to "tilt" the camera left, right, up and down. Like a camera on a fixed tripod that...

To get the horizontal plane, you can get one vector as the cross product of the up... .
It may not be mathematically optimal, but you could de-compose the camera to look-at vector into three vectors - two that define the horizontal plane, and the up vector .

What are some of the residency programs that have minimal off service rotations?
I have seen a few in researching such as Wake, Baystate, Geisinger, and MCG
Answer Snippets (Read the full thread at studentdoctor):
I think outside rotations strengthen you since they expose are "note-writing machines" for other services....
Why would you want to do less off service rotations? Correct my thinking here as I am still a 3rd I should be considering please comment.

There's much talk about the 1 year of rotations requirement for a CA license. In reality, it's not one entire year. I went to LLU's website and looked at the senior year curriculum of Loma Linda University, a CA CLS program, which is divided into 3 quarters...

Did your school add in some classes? or decided.
School has decided to squeeze the rotations like that.

I am applying for away rotations in EM and noticing some frustrations coming from a DO school. For instance, I was told since I am a DO I need to include my class rank...Also, some programs only take 1 DO per month even though they have 16 spots per month...

People seem to have no trouble getting rotations at hospitals in westchester queens brooklyn of or experience among my friends nd upperclassman....
I hope you're just looking at bad programs, sylvanthus.
rotations at these programs, both MD and DO.

Unfortunately for them, I think that the people who'll make poor impressions on away rotations extreme caution in doing away rotations.
