FYI, RPG Maker VX is like a later version that simplifies things A LOT.

I'm looking for a numeric type in ILE RPG which will "wrap round" when it overflows, in a similar way to how a C int would. Is there such a thing?

While RPG does have the TRUNCNBR compile option.
The best solution I can suggest would be to create a procedure that does the math for you and handles the overflow .
RPG won't let you do that.

Given from within RPG.
Since the program is running on a remote server, you can't call it directly from RPG.

If you understand RPG's and you have a fully formed idea of what you want to do.
Programming an RPG game isn't any different than programming any other game.
Advanced libraries, toolkits, etc.
