I recently traded for a very old Savage Model 1899. The barrel is marked Savage 30. The serial number (196XX) indicates it was made in 1902.

I believe I would want to get a chamber cast of that, or do some serious a competitor's name on guns of their own manufacture, and doubt very much that Arthur Savage would put Oliver Winchester's name on Savage....

I've built several kits in the past, long long ago, but this was my first kit build in over 10yrs and I thought it went together pretty smoothly for the most part, and the build was enjoyable too .
I built an XS SS kit and found it fairly easy .
