I have to save about 1000 different csv files and every time i click file save as, it goes to some default directory.
is there anyway it can default to remember the directory that i saved the last file into?

You can try adding registry setting for Excel 2007, if you have older version of Excel it will be different, 11.0 for 2003, 10.0 for 2002...) add a dword value named AlwaysSaveToCurrentPath....
Remember the last Save As location, until I exit Excel.

You can 'save as' and get a standard gmidi format file, which you can later edit some more if ....
To a native format, but the Export is used to save to a format that is somehow lossy in that if you instruments to play.

Trying to keep the references around is also? If I wanted a new record, I would do an InsertOnSubmit()! So how are you supposed to use Attach by another datacontext - can't....

I am using XNA and I want to save files to Vista's "Saved Games" folder.
I can get similar special folders like My Documents with Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.MyDocuments) but I cannot find an equivalent for the Saved Games folder...

I would use the FPRINTF function, which will allow you to define for yourself what format to output that you also have to use the functions FOPEN and FCLOSE .

Add some virtual methods.
For inserts:
Create a base class for your entities.
You could put any post-save operations after this (using the change-set you obtained before the save).
