Under hard acceleration I have a screeching noise from the engine area
left side. Any thoughts on what this might be?
I notice this in first gear but it may be present in higher gears but it can
not be heard due to wind and road noise.
Possible clutch...

Take a pint size paint can and stick it in the hose off the air filter box .
DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN WHEN PUTTING BACK ON.
Since its so easy to check the gasket, yank that engine cover and check the bov/intercooler .
